Campgrounds and RV parks near Chambord, QC

Chambord sits on the southwest shore of Lac Saint-Jean in Quebec's Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, at the junction of routes 155 and 169. The lake is a large inland body of water with sandy beaches, warm shallows in midsummer, and a paved cycling route, the Véloroute des Bleuets, that circles its perimeter. RV travellers use Chambord as a base for touring the lake loop and visiting the Village historique de Val-Jalbert just a few kilometres west. Campgrounds in the immediate area range from cooperative sites to commercial resorts and a Quebec national park. Coop Camping Chambord and Camping Mont Plaisant are within town or a short drive. Pointe Taillon Provincial Park lies across the lake on the north shore near Saint-Henri-de-Taillon and is run by Sépaq, the Quebec parks agency. Camping Belley sits near the park entrance, and Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre extends options on the lake's eastern side near Alma. Most lakeside sites operate from late spring through early fall.

Bookings split between two systems. Pointe-Taillon is managed by the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec, known as Sépaq. Reservations for summer go through the Sépaq website or call centre, with the camping reservation window for the upcoming summer typically opening in early November the previous year. A daily access right or annual Québec national parks card is required in addition to the campsite fee, and a Parks Canada pass does not work at this park. Daily admission can be purchased online up to 30 days in advance. Private campgrounds such as Coop Camping Chambord, Camping Mont Plaisant, Camping Belley, and Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre book directly through their own websites or by phone. Deposits are common, and serviced RV sites for July weekends should be reserved several weeks ahead.
