Campgrounds and RV parks near Chesterville, QC

Activity in the area revolves around water and forest. Camping Lac Des Cypres has a sand beach with a waterslide, a splashpad, inflatable games on the lake, kayaks, and pedal boats, which makes it the easiest pick for families with kids who need to burn energy. Camping Mon Plaisir runs a heated semi-Olympic pool, water games, a spa, a 9-hole mini-golf course, and organized recreation including bingo and karaoke in its community hall. Beyond the campgrounds, the Nicolet River corridor offers fishing and quiet paddling, and Chesterville hosts summer arts and culture events that draw visitors into the Appalachian hills. Victoriaville adds paved cycling on the Parc linéaire des Bois-Francs, restaurants, museums such as the Musée Laurier, and full-size grocery and hardware stops.

Private campgrounds in this part of Centre-du-Québec run a short season. Most open in early May and close at the end of September or in mid-October, with Camping Lac Des Cypres typically operating May through September and Camping Mon Plaisir running from early May to mid-September. Outside those windows, expect closed gates, drained water lines, and limited services. July and August are peak. Weekends fill quickly with Quebec families on vacation, organized activities run daily, and reservations made weeks ahead are normal. Late June and early September are quieter and cooler, with lake swimming still workable on warm afternoons. Spring shoulder weeks in May and early June can be muddy and buggy: black flies and mosquitoes are heaviest from late May into early July. Fall colour through the Appalachian hills peaks in late September and early October. Winter is not an RV season here. Snow cover is deep, overnight lows often drop below minus fifteen Celsius, and only winter-storage arrangements remain available.

Expect mid-size, family-oriented private campgrounds rather than wilderness parks. Sites are generally grass or gravel with a picnic table and a fire ring, and most travellers' loops offer 30-amp electricity with water, with some 50-amp and full-service pull-throughs available at Camping Lac Des Cypres. Sanitary blocks with showers, laundromats, dump stations, convenience stores, snack bars, and Wi-Fi are standard at the larger sites such as Camping Mon Plaisir and Camping Lac Des Cypres. Beaches, pools, playgrounds, and organized activities mean the parks can be lively on summer weekends, so light sleepers should ask for a site away from the pool and community hall. Pets are typically allowed with restrictions on leash length and breed. Cell coverage is reliable along Route 161 and patchier on back roads into the lakes.
