Campgrounds and RV parks near Cleveland, QC

The region is built around lakes, forested hills, and small Townships villages. Most private campgrounds near Cleveland sit on a lake or river, so swimming, paddling, and fishing fill the daytime hours. At Camping Plage Mckenzie and Camping Lac Des Cypres, families typically spend afternoons on the beach and evenings around the fire ring. A short drive south reaches Parc national du Mont-Orford, with hiking trails, a mountain bike and fatbike network, nautical equipment rentals, and a chairlift to the summit. A 10.6 km cycling path now links the Lac-Stukely and Lac-Fraser sectors, so cyclists can move between the two without the car. Cycling on the regional Route Verte network, visiting Eastern Townships vineyards and microbreweries, and day trips into Magog and Sherbrooke round out a typical itinerary.

The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and clearly defined. At Parc national du Mont-Orford, the Lac-Stukely sector typically operates from early May to mid-October, while the Lac-Fraser sector opens later, generally from mid-June to early September, so RV renters planning an early-season or late-summer trip should confirm which sector is open. Private campgrounds around Cleveland follow a similar mid-May to mid-October pattern. Spring brings mud, black flies, and unpredictable temperatures, but also fewer crowds. Summer is peak season: warm days, warm lake water, and full campgrounds on weekends. Fall foliage in the Eastern Townships peaks in early to mid-October and draws heavy weekend traffic to Mont-Orford for hiking and the chairlift. Winter shuts down the private campgrounds and standard Sépaq campsites, though the park stays open year-round for day use, and rustic huts and cabins remain available for travellers parking the RV and switching to fixed-roof lodging.

Campgrounds near Cleveland range from full-service private parks with electricity, water, and sewer hookups to rustic Sépaq sites with fewer services. Roads into the region are paved and well signed, and most private grounds can handle larger Class A and Class C rigs, though some interior loops at Mont-Orford have tighter turns and tree cover better suited to mid-size RVs and trailers. Expect a separate park access fee at Mont-Orford on top of the campsite, since park entry is charged in addition to accommodation in Sépaq national parks. French is the working language at Sépaq desks and many private campgrounds, but English is widely understood in the Townships. Black flies are common in late May and June, mosquitoes follow in July, and bears are present in forested sectors, so standard food storage practices apply.
