Campgrounds and RV parks near Coaticook, QC

The main draw is the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, home to what is billed as the longest pedestrian suspension footbridge in North America, plus hiking trails, mountain biking, disc golf, a small farm, and the Foresta Lumina illuminated night walk during summer evenings. Parc Decouverte Nature, a short drive from the gorge, offers pond fishing with equipment provided and interactive activities for children. The surrounding countryside is dotted with cheese makers, orchards, cider houses, and farm stands along the Compton agritourism route. Lake Massawippi, Mont Pinacle in the Baldwin park, and the cross-border trail networks toward East Hereford give RV families a wide mix of paddling, swimming, and trail days within a 30-minute drive.

Most private campgrounds in the Coaticook area follow a Victoria Day to Thanksgiving season, with the Parc de la Gorge campground operating roughly from mid-May to mid-October. A small number of shelters and refuges at the gorge park, along with select sites at East Hereford, stay open through winter for snowshoers and fat bikers. July and August are the peak booking window. Sites with full services fill quickly on weekends, and Foresta Lumina draws strong evening crowds. Late June and early September are quieter, with comfortable daytime temperatures and fewer biting insects. Mid-September to early October brings hardwood fall colour through the Estrie hills, which is a popular driving and hiking season. Black flies and mosquitoes are active from late May into early July, especially near rivers and wooded sites. Winter operations are limited to four-season shelters and groomed snowshoe and fat-bike trails rather than full RV camping, since most services and water lines are shut down for the cold months.

Expect Quebec-style private campgrounds: a mix of grassy and wooded RV pitches, a central reception building, communal washrooms with showers, a dump station, and often a heated pool, playground, and snack bar. Camping du Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook offers serviced and rustic sites alongside ready-to-camp tents and shelters, with picnic tables and fire rings included. Roads into the campgrounds are paved or hard-packed gravel and suit most travel trailers and motorhomes, though some interior loops are tight for larger fifth wheels. French is the primary language of staff and signage, with English spoken at most front desks. Dogs are generally welcome on leash but are often excluded from beaches, pools, ready-to-camp units, and the Foresta Lumina trail.
