Campgrounds and RV parks near Denholm, QC

Parc des chutes de Denholm is the local headline attraction, a municipal park with forested trails, lookouts, and a waterfall. The surrounding lakes draw anglers and paddlers, and the Gatineau River corridor is well suited to canoes and kayaks. Gatineau Park, a short drive south, adds extensive hiking and cycling networks, swimming beaches at Philippe Lake, and the Mackenzie King Estate. Swimming at Philippe Lake is guarded by lifeguards, and paddle-boats, kayaks, and canoes can be rented on site. La Pêche Lake in the northwestern part of the park is the area's canoe-camping destination, with sites reached by a 30 to 90 minute paddle from the boat launch and rentals available at the launch.

The serviced camping window in this part of Quebec is short. Most private campgrounds in the Outaouais open in mid to late May and close in mid-September, and the Gatineau Park summer camping season runs roughly from mid-May to mid-October. Outside those dates, expect closed gates, winterised plumbing, and limited RV options. Summer brings the heaviest demand around Gatineau Park, and reservations around Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24 and Canada Day on July 1 tend to book up quickly. Summer is also the wetter half of the year locally, with August often the wettest month, so afternoon thunderstorms are common. Early fall is the sweet spot for RV travel, with cooler nights and lighter weekday traffic. Expect dense weekend crowds in late September and early to mid-October when fall colours peak. Black-fly pressure is heaviest in late May and early June; mosquitoes stay active through July near wetlands and forested sites.

Expect bilingual French and English staff, with French as the working language at most front desks. Sites range from rustic tent pads to serviced RV pull-throughs. Camping Cantley sits in the Collines de l'Outaouais and offers close to 300 sites for tents and RVs, with two pools, a wading pool, a stocked fishing pond, and a convenience store on the property. In Gatineau Park, comfort stations include sinks, showers, and electricity, potable water is available, and a sanitation dump station is on site. Site choices include tents, trailers, canoe-camping, ready-to-camp units, and mini-chalets with electricity. An admission fee is charged when driving into the park during the camping season. Cell coverage is patchy north of Cantley, and the closest full-service grocery, fuel, and propane stops are in Low, Wakefield, and Gatineau.
