Campgrounds and RV parks near Dudswell, QC

Outdoor activity is the main draw. Lake Aylmer and the Saint-François River support swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing within minutes of most local campgrounds. Hiking and mountain biking trails climb the surrounding hills, with Mont-Ham regional park to the north offering a short summit hike with panoramic views. At Camping du Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, visitors can walk one of North America's longest suspended footbridges, ride mountain-bike trails, visit a small farm, and book the Foresta Lumina illuminated night trail. The Coaticook valley is also known for dairy farms, cheese shops, and ice cream. Sherbrooke, roughly half an hour from Dudswell, adds museums, restaurants, and grocery resupply. Cycle paths around Coaticook and the Townships' wine and microbrewery routes round out rainy-day options.

The practical RV-camping season in the Eastern Townships runs from mid-May to mid-October. Most private campgrounds near Dudswell open around the Victoria Day long weekend in May and close in mid-September, with a few keeping serviced sites available into early October for fall-foliage travellers. Camping Beau-Soleil typically operates from mid-May through mid-September, and Camping du Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook runs roughly from mid-May to mid-October. July and August are the busiest months, with warm days, active weekend programming, and high demand for serviced sites. Late September into mid-October brings cool nights and strong fall colour across the Appalachian hills, plus reduced crowds. Spring shoulder weeks can be muddy and cold: Sherbrooke's last spring frost normally lands around late May, and the first fall frost arrives around mid-September. Winter is long and snowy. A handful of operators offer four-season cabins or refuges, but most RV campgrounds and dump stations are closed from late October until May.

Most campgrounds in this part of the Townships are family-oriented, with playgrounds, swimming pools or lake access, washrooms with hot showers, laundry, and a small camp store or snack bar. Hookups are common but not universal: expect 30-amp electrical at the larger grounds, with water and sewer at premium sites and dump stations available to registered campers. Sites range from open sunny pull-throughs to wooded back-ins; some properties also rent ready-to-camp tents, cabins, or refuges for travellers without an RV. Cell coverage is generally good along the Route 112 and Route 143 corridors but can drop in the deeper river valleys. Bring bug spray for blackflies in late spring and mosquitoes through summer, plus layers for cool evenings even in July. French is the working language, though most campground staff in tourist areas speak some English.
