Campgrounds and RV parks near Ferme-Neuve, QC

The headline activity is hiking the Montagne du Diable trail network, with summit routes that take in the peaks of Garde-Feu, Belzébuth and Sir-Wilfrid and long views across the surrounding lakes and forest. Paddling and fishing dominate the lake side of a trip: brook (speckled) trout, lake trout, splake, rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, bass, walleye, arctic char and pike are found across more than 700 bodies of water in the Papineau-Labelle reserve alone. Most lake-access campgrounds close in winter, though Centre touristique du Lac-Simon - SEPAQ stays open from late December into early March for cross-country skiing, snow tubing, snowshoeing and ice fishing. Most campgrounds near Ferme-Neuve are lakeside and forested rather than open RV parks. Inside the Sépaq reserves, expect a mix of formats: campsites are generally on the edge of a lake, many are non-serviced or rustic with a fire pit and picnic table, and the busier sectors such as Lac Écho and Lac Joinville have sanitary blocks with toilets and sinks, a drainage station, and non-potable water points. Lac de la Vieille in La Vérendrye is more RV-friendly, offering rustic sites alongside three-service sites with water, electricity and sewer, plus shower blocks and a dump station. Cell coverage is patchy on forest roads. Bring bug protection in June, drinking-water storage for rustic sites, and bear-safe food storage.
