Campgrounds and RV parks near Hawkesbury, QC

Hawkesbury sits on the Ottawa River in western Quebec, directly across from Ontario and roughly halfway between Montreal and Ottawa. The bilingual town serves as a practical base for RV travellers exploring the Ottawa Valley, with grocery stores, hardware, and camping supplies available within town limits. The area mixes provincial parkland with private RV parks on both sides of the river. Voyageur Provincial Park, an Ontario Parks property a short drive across the river, anchors the public camping options with hundreds of riverside sites spread across three campgrounds. Private operators fill out the surrounding area, including L Original Campground, Cedar Shade Campground, Camping Trans-canadien, and Evergreen Camping Resort, which range from rustic riverfront sites to full-service seasonal resorts. Most sites in the region include electrical hookup; the larger private parks add water and sewer. Highway 417 in Ontario and Autoroute 50 in Quebec keep the campgrounds accessible for big rigs and travel trailers.

Voyageur Provincial Park reservations are handled through the Ontario Parks reservation system online or by phone, with sites bookable up to five months ahead of arrival at 7 a.m. ET. Reservations cannot be changed or cancelled more than four months in advance of the arrival date, and popular weekends tend to sell out the moment the booking window opens. Private campgrounds in the area, including L Original Campground, Cedar Shade Campground, Camping Trans-canadien, and Evergreen Camping Resort, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Long weekends and full-season sites should be booked several months out. If considering a Quebec provincial park such as Plaisance to the east, Sépaq requires a two-night minimum for advance bookings, with single-night stays accepted only within 72 hours of arrival.
