Campgrounds and RV parks near Kamouraska, QC

The Kamouraska archipelago is the area's main draw. SEBKA, based between Kamouraska and Saint-Andre, runs guided sea kayak excursions on the St. Lawrence with a classic three-hour tour and a shorter family outing, timed to the tides and offered roughly mid-May through mid-October. The same site offers more than ten kilometres of marked hiking trails and 115 climbing routes on the Saint-Andre cliffs, with daily wristbands sold first-come at the welcome centre. Birders should plan around spring and fall migrations: the Kamouraska flats host large flocks of greater snow geese and Canada geese passing through the estuary. The village itself has a heritage walking circuit, a smoked-fish shop, a bakery and a regional museum. North-shore day trips include Chutes Fraser at La Malbaie and Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Riviere-Malbaie national park.

Most private campgrounds near Kamouraska operate on a short season. Camping Riviere-Ouelle runs from early May to mid-October, and other regional sites follow a similar May-to-October window. Camping Chutes Fraser at La Malbaie keeps a comparable schedule. Outside these dates, expect closures, with a handful of four-season eco-shelters operated by SEBKA available for winter stays. Spring brings the snow goose migration and cool, often wet weather, with overnight temperatures still dipping below freezing into early May. Summer is the busiest stretch: July and August see the warmest temperatures, the full schedule of guided kayak outings, and the highest demand for waterfront sites. Reserve serviced and river-view pitches well in advance for these months. September is quieter and still mild, with fall colours peaking through October along the Appalachian foothills inland. By November, most services have shut down for the season, freeze-thaw cycles begin, and winter snow cover typically sets in for several months.

Campgrounds along the south shore are working RV parks, not wilderness sites. Camping Riviere-Ouelle has 251 sites with a mix of unserviced pitches, two-service sites and three-service sites with 30 and 50 amp power, plus pull-through pitches, a convenience store, playground, mini golf and panoramic lookout. SEBKA, by contrast, offers about 90 rustic tent and RV sites with no hookups. Expect cool, breezy evenings even in midsummer because of the river: bring layers and bug protection for late spring and early summer. Tide schedules matter for any shoreline activity, including launching kayaks. The surrounding area is largely francophone, though tourism staff at major campgrounds and SEBKA generally speak some English. Cell coverage along Route 132 is reliable and weakens in the back country south of the highway.
