Kitigan Zibi is an Algonquin First Nation community in the Outaouais region of western Quebec, bordering the town of Maniwaki at the confluence of the Désert and Gatineau Rivers. The area sits at the southern gateway to Réserve faunique La Vérendrye, a vast Sépaq-managed wildlife reserve known for its lakes, walleye and pike fishing, and remote canoe-camping circuits. To the south, Gatineau Park offers a more developed family camping experience within easy driving distance of Ottawa. RV travellers use Kitigan Zibi as a base for trips into both park systems. Closer options include Tarmigan Camping, with serviced sites suited to trailers and motorhomes. Inside La Vérendrye, Lac de la Vieille and Lac Savary offer drive-in lakeside sites in the Outaouais sector.
