Campgrounds and RV parks near Lac-des-Écorces, QC

Lac-des-Écorces sits in the Hautes-Laurentides region of Quebec, just east of Mont-Laurier along Route 117. The municipality is built around a chain of lakes that drain into the Lièvre River, giving RV travellers easy access to swimming, paddling, and fishing without a long drive. Many campers use the town as a base for exploring two large SEPAQ properties: Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle to the southwest and Centre touristique du Lac-Simon near Duhamel. Smaller private campgrounds along the corridor, including Camping Au Petit Lac Simon and Tarmigan Camping, fill in the closer options. The area is a mix of working forest, cottage country, and protected wildlife reserve. White-tailed deer, moose, and beaver are common, and the surrounding lakes hold brook trout, lake trout, and walleye. The terrain is rolling rather than mountainous, which makes the access roads to most campgrounds manageable for trailers and motorhomes, though some interior reserve roads are rough and better suited to smaller rigs.

SEPAQ properties, including Centre touristique du Lac-Simon and the campgrounds inside Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle, are booked through the central SEPAQ reservation system online or by phone. Summer-season camping at the wildlife reserves typically opens for booking in spring of the prior year, and waterfront and three-service sites at Lac-Simon fill quickly for July and August weekends. Reservation in advance is strongly recommended; the Papineau-Labelle reserve no longer staffs a Laurentides-side reception centre, so the nearest welcome point is Accueil Gagnon at Duhamel. Private campgrounds such as Camping Chutes aux Iroquois, Tarmigan Camping, and Camping Au Petit Lac Simon are booked directly with each operator through their own websites or by phone.
