Campgrounds and RV parks near Lochaber-Partie-Ouest, QC

The Ottawa River corridor is the main draw, with flatwater paddling, wildlife watching, and cycling all within a short drive. At Plaisance Provincial Park, visitors can rent a kayak and head for Baie Noire or Baie de la Pentecôte, or paddle up Rivière la Petite-Nation to Chutes de Plaisance on a round trip of about four hours, with recreational kayaks available by the hour, half day, or full day at the Discovery and Visitors Centre. In spring, the park hosts thousands of Canada Geese, and summer brings ducks, herons, ospreys, and dozens of other species. The Petite-Nation cycling path links Plaisance to Thurso along a flat former rail bed. On the Ontario side, day trips from Rolling Hills Campground Ottawa reach Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, museums, and the ByWard Market.

The camping season in this area is short and concentrated between late spring and mid-fall. Plaisance Provincial Park operates its campground roughly from late April through late October, with the published Sépaq calendar running April 24 to October 25. Rolling Hills Campground Ottawa is open from May 1 to October 31. Private Quebec parks such as Camping au bord de l eau and Camping Ange Gardien follow a similar May-to-October pattern, with most facilities closing once overnight temperatures drop below freezing. July and August are the busiest months and the period most likely to require reservations weeks ahead, especially for serviced and waterfront sites. May and June can be wet and buggy, with blackflies and mosquitoes peaking in late spring. September brings cooler nights, thinner crowds, and fall colour along the Ottawa River and Petite-Nation valley. Winter camping is not available at the parks listed; internal park roads and parking lots at Plaisance are not accessible during the winter season.

Site styles range from full-service RV resorts to rustic provincial-park loops. Rolling Hills Campground Ottawa offers 30/50-amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups at every site, plus a heated outdoor pool, Starlink Wi-Fi, clean washrooms, an on-site store, and laundry. It is an adults-only park, restricted to guests 18 and over. Plaisance Provincial Park offers serviced and semi-serviced campsites for tents and recreational vehicles, with sites near Baie Parisien. The park has hiking trails, swimming areas, washrooms with showers, and flush toilets. Pet policies vary by sector and by park, so confirm in advance before arriving with a dog.
