Campgrounds and RV parks near Melbourne, QC

Mont-Orford anchors the area's outdoor menu. Lake Stukely beach is a supervised swimming beach with clear water, a playground, and on-site services including a welcome centre, convenience store, boat rental and washrooms. Lac Fraser offers a second supervised beach within the same park, plus hiking trails and a 10.6 km cycling link between the two sectors. Camping Plage Mckenzie offers one of the largest sandy beaches in the Eastern Townships with direct access to the 12-kilometre navigable Grand Lac Brompton, where pedal-boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and boating are all on offer. Downtown Magog adds restaurants, a public beach on Lac Memphrémagog and cycling on the Route Verte for rest-day variety.

The camping window in this part of Quebec is short and tightly tied to the Sépaq calendar. At Parc national du Mont-Orford the camping period runs from mid-May to mid-October, depending on the sector and subject to change. Lac Stukely typically opens earlier and stays open later, while Lac Fraser runs a shorter mid-summer window. Private grounds nearby stretch the shoulders: Camping Plage Mckenzie has historically operated from early May into late September, and Camping Magog-Orford runs a similar May-through-October season. July and August are peak season, with hot days, warm lake water and full campgrounds. Late June and early September are quieter and still pleasant for swimming. Late September into early October brings the Eastern Townships fall colours, a major draw for weekend RV trips. In winter, the surrounding park shifts to cross-country skiing, fat-biking and snowshoeing, but most serviced RV camping is closed. Spring is mud season: snowmelt lingers into April, and trails can be soft well into May. Booking early is essential for any summer weekend.

RV renters can expect a mix of forested provincial-park loops and larger family-style private resorts. Mont-Orford's Lac Stukely sector offers serviced and unserviced sites, and the park also has a rustic walk-in campsite in the Vallonnier sector accessible only by hiking trails. Confirm hookup type when booking, especially when towing a larger trailer. Private grounds tend to be busier and more programmed. Camping Plage Mckenzie has 276 sites including 68 for transient campers, with a beach and water-sports facilities suited to families. House rules there include an 8 km/h speed limit, one car per site, a 2 p.m. check-in and a 1 p.m. checkout. Cell reception is generally good near Magog and weaker deeper in the park. Bring layers; nights cool quickly even in July.
