Campgrounds and RV parks near Namur, QC

Water activities dominate the area. At Centre touristique du Lac-Simon - SEPAQ, a 2 km beach with clear water and fine sand is the centrepiece, and the lake supports a full range of water sports. On-site amenities include a playground, supervised swimming, fishing, hiking trails and observation points, with canoe, rowboat, kayak and pedal boat rentals available at the registration centre. Plaisance Provincial Park is built for paddlers and birders. Set on a network of marshes, islands and lush forests along the Ottawa River, it is a prime spot for birdwatching, with spring bringing thousands of Canada geese and summer drawing ducks, herons, ospreys and many other species. Paddlers can explore Baie Parisien and the Petite-Nation River, and the regional cycling route between Plaisance and Thurso provides a flat, family-friendly ride along the river.

The main RV camping season runs from mid-May through mid-October. Watercraft and bicycle rental at Plaisance is offered from late May to late September, depending on weather conditions. Beach swimming and naturalist programming at Lac-Simon typically run from late June through mid-August, when activity guides are on site. Late spring brings cool nights, blackflies in the woods, and high water along the Ottawa River, which can flood low-lying sections of Plaisance. Summer is peak season, with warm lake swimming, busy beaches, and full reservation calendars. Fall delivers strong foliage from late September into mid-October, fewer bugs, and cooler nights that demand RV furnace use. Winter changes the picture entirely. Parc national de Plaisance remains accessible by foot or snowshoe, but from mid-October to the end of April the registration buildings and washrooms are closed and the trails are not groomed; only the Discovery and Visitors Centre parking lot is open. Lac-Simon, by contrast, stays open for winter activities including cross-country skiing, tubing, skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice fishing, though RV camping is not the focus.

Site mix favours RVs. The 326-site campground at Centre touristique du Lac-Simon - SEPAQ is set in a plantation of white pines and deciduous trees, offering a mix of three-service, two-service and semi-serviced sites along with about 40 ready-to-camp units and an RV area for camper vans. At Plaisance Provincial Park, more than 100 campsites, serviced or semi-serviced for tents and recreational vehicles, are all located in the Presqu'Îles sector near Baie Parisien. Expect standard Sépaq amenities: flush toilets, showers, potable water, playgrounds, and a registration centre selling firewood and ice. Cell coverage is patchy in wooded sites. Dogs are allowed at Centre touristique du Lac-Simon - SEPAQ only in designated sectors under specific conditions, while guide and service dogs are allowed everywhere. Quiet hours are enforced, and recreational drone use is prohibited on Sépaq lands.
