Campgrounds and RV parks near Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice-de-Buckland, QC

The Parc régional du Massif du Sud, which surrounds Buckland, offers hiking, mountain biking, and forested mountain trails. Lac Etchemin itself is a 5 km lake supporting water activities, road biking, eco-educational walking trails, and in winter downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. From Camping Pointe Aux Oies in Montmagny, families can walk into the old town, ride to Grosse Île and the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago by ferry, and watch ships pass on the St. Lawrence. Camping Ile Dorleans places renters near orchards, vineyards, and the heritage villages of Île d'Orléans, with Quebec City a short bridge crossing away. Camping La Roche Dor in the Beauce sits along the Gilbert River with family programming on site.

The Buckland-area camping season runs roughly mid-May through mid-October, with most private parks following that window. Camping Pointe Aux Oies in Montmagny opens around May 14 and closes around mid-October, Camping Orléans on Île d'Orléans opens in early May and closes in late October, and Camping La Roche Dor in Notre-Dame-des-Pins follows a similar May to October pattern. Camping Lac-Etchemin runs a discounted low season between mid-May and mid-June and again between early September and mid-October. July and the first three weeks of August are the busiest stretch, coinciding with Quebec's construction holiday and school vacation. Spring openings can be cool and wet, with the last frost in the broader Quebec City area in early May. Fall brings strong foliage from late September into early October, followed by quick cooling. Outside the warm months the region pivots to skiing and snowmobiling, and most RV-friendly sites close.

Expect French as the primary language of service, with most staff at larger parks able to help in English. Sites at the bigger campgrounds tend to be wooded and family-oriented. Camping Lac-Etchemin offers a swimming pool, spa, water games, wireless Internet, pétanque, billiards, hiking, and fishing. Camping Pointe Aux Oies provides a heated pool, modern sanitary installations, and many games for children. Cellular coverage is reliable along Route 277 and in Montmagny, but can drop in the Massif du Sud back roads. Mosquitoes and blackflies are heaviest in June. Bring layers even in summer: nights this close to the river and the highlands can fall into the low teens Celsius, and shoulder-season mornings often start near freezing.
