The lake is the centrepiece. The municipal beach in Notre-Dame-du-Lac offers free access to Lac Témiscouata with certified lifeguards, a springboard, slide and boat rentals. The Petit Témis linear park, a rail-trail cycling route between Rivière-du-Loup and Edmundston, runs directly through the municipal campground, with bike rentals available on site. Across the lake, Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata offers hiking, cycling, swimming and paddling on Lac Témiscouata, Petit Lac Touladi and Grand Lac Touladi, with canoe, kayak, paddleboard and pedalo rentals at park sectors. Provincial Park de la Republique, across the New Brunswick line, includes the New Brunswick Botanical Garden on more than 8 hectares of its grounds, along with a heated pool, tennis and pickleball courts and trails along the Madawaska River.

Cell coverage is reliable in town and patchy in the park interior. Most signage and front-desk service is in French, with English commonly available at tourist sites. Groceries, fuel and propane are available in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, with a wider selection in Edmundston about 50 km south. Posted highway signs from Autoroute 85 are more reliable than mapping apps for reaching the national park sectors. Lake nights are cool even in midsummer, so bring layers.
