Campgrounds and RV parks near Princeville, QC

The lakes around Princeville drive most of the recreation: swimming beaches, paddling, kayak rentals, and small-boat fishing are standard at campgrounds such as Camping Lac Georges and Camping Lac Des Cypres. Camping Cap A La Roche sits on a larger body of water and suits anglers and motorized boaters. Camping Mon Plaisir and Camping Soleil Inc lean family-friendly, with pools, playgrounds, and weekend activities. Off-site, the Route Verte cycling network passes through the region, with rail-trail sections linking Princeville to Victoriaville and the Bois-Francs. Day trips include the boutiques and microbreweries of Victoriaville, the dairy and cheese trail of the Centre-du-Québec, and the trails at Mont-Arthabaska. Quebec City is roughly an hour and a half away by RV.

Private campgrounds in the Princeville area generally operate from mid-May through early or mid-October, tracking the standard Quebec camping season. Many sites in Centre-du-Québec post opening weekends around the Journée nationale des patriotes (the Victoria Day equivalent in Quebec) and close after Canadian Thanksgiving. Winter camping is rare at these specific properties; the lakes freeze and access roads are not maintained for transient RV traffic. July and August are peak season. Weekends, especially around Saint-Jean-Baptiste (June 24) and Canada Day (July 1), book out weeks in advance, and serviced waterfront sites are the first to go. Late June and the last two weeks of August tend to be quieter while still warm enough for swimming. September brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and early fall color in the Appalachian hills to the east. Black flies peak in late May and early June; mosquitoes ease by late July. Spring sites can be soft after snowmelt, so check road conditions before arriving with a large rig.

Expect French as the working language at the campgrounds, though most operators near Princeville handle basic English at check-in. Sites are typically grass or gravel, with 30-amp service common and 50-amp available at the larger parks. Big rigs fit at most properties but pull-throughs are limited, so confirm site length when booking. Dump stations are standard; potable water fill is usually at a central tap. Quiet hours are enforced, generally from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Campfires are permitted in designated rings, subject to provincial fire bans during dry spells. Cell coverage on the major carriers is reliable in and around Princeville. Grocery, fuel, propane, and RV supplies are easiest to handle in Victoriaville, about 15 minutes west on Route 116.
