Campgrounds and RV parks near Racine, QC

Grand Lac Brompton anchors most warm-weather activity. The supervised beach at Camping Plage Mckenzie rents kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, paddle boats, and rowboats, and the lake has about 12 km of navigable water for boating and swimming. Inside Parc national du Mont-Orford, the Lac Stukely and Lac Fraser sectors offer hiking trails up the Orford massif, swimming beaches, paddling, interpretive programs led by park wardens, and bike paths. A 10.6 km cycling trail now links the two sectors, so visitors can travel between Le Cerisier and Opeongo visitor centres without driving. Off the water, the area is part of the Townships wine and microbrewery routes, with vineyards, artisan cheese makers, and farm markets within easy driving distance. The Musée de l'ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier in nearby Valcourt is a common rainy-day stop for families.

The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and well-defined. The Lac Stukely sector of Parc national du Mont-Orford operates from early May to mid-October, while the Lac Fraser sector runs on a shorter mid-June to early-September window. Private parks in the area follow a similar pattern, with most operating from mid-May to mid-September or mid-October. Late May through June brings green forests, full waterfalls, and active blackfly and mosquito populations, especially in wooded sites near the lakes. July and August are peak season for swimming, paddling, and family travel; weekend sites in Mont-Orford and on Grand Lac Brompton commonly sell out weeks in advance. September delivers cooler nights, fewer bugs, and the start of Eastern Townships fall colour, which usually peaks in early October. After mid-October, most serviced camping closes and the region transitions to a ski-and-snowshoe season centred on Mont Orford and Bromont.

Expect a French-first environment. Signage, reservation confirmations, and on-site staff communicate primarily in French, though most campground hosts in the Townships also speak English. Sépaq sites in Mont-Orford range from rustic, unserviced forest pitches to two-service and three-service RV sites, plus ready-to-camp Huttopia tents and Nature cabins at Lac Stukely. Private parks lean toward serviced sites with power, water, and sewer, plus amenities such as beaches, playgrounds, laundry, and dump stations. Each Sépaq site can accommodate up to six people and a maximum of two pieces of equipment. Sites in the area tend to be wooded and can be tighter than typical North American RV resorts, so confirm length and pull-through availability when booking a larger rig. Quiet hours, leashed-dog rules, and campfire restrictions during dry spells are enforced.
