Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Claude, QC

Mont-Orford Provincial Park anchors outdoor activity in the area, with hiking on the Mont Chauve and Mont Orford summit trails, swimming at Plage du lac Stukely and Plage du lac Fraser, paddling, and a cross-country and fatbike network in cooler months. Lac Magog and Lake Memphremagog offer boat launches, beaches, and fishing. The Route Verte cycling network passes through Sherbrooke and links toward Magog, with Camping Ile-Marie sitting near a bike path. Family-friendly options include the Granby Zoo about an hour west, vineyard tours along the Route des vins de l'Estrie, and Eastern Townships microbreweries. Anglers can fish stocked trout lakes near several private campgrounds.

The standard RV camping window in this part of Quebec runs from mid-May to early or mid-October, though dates vary by campground. Private grounds typically operate from around mid-May through mid-September. Inside Mont-Orford Provincial Park, the Lac Stukely sector opens earlier in May, while the Lac Fraser sector usually opens in mid-to-late June and closes around the first weekend of September. July and August are the warmest and busiest months, when serviced sites at lakeside parks fill weeks ahead and weekend availability disappears first. Late June and early September are good compromises: warm enough for swimming, with thinner crowds. Fall colour in the maple-dominated forests around Mont-Orford typically peaks from late September into early October and draws strong weekend demand. Spring shoulder dates can be muddy and buggy, with blackflies common in late May and June. Winter RV camping is generally not supported; Sépaq offers year-round huts and EXP cabins inside Mont-Orford for cold-season stays.

Expect a mix of forested, lake-oriented sites and family-resort-style private grounds. Inside Mont-Orford, loops are wooded and quieter, with a mix of serviced and unserviced sites, vault and flush washrooms by sector, and swimming beaches within the park. Private parks near Sherbrooke and Magog lean more social, with pools, playgrounds, organized events, and tighter site spacing. French is the working language across the region; most campground staff handle basic English, but signage, maps, and reservation confirmations may arrive in French. Cell coverage is reliable in town and around Magog but spotty inside parts of Mont-Orford. Bring bug protection in early summer, a park access pass for Mont-Orford, and firewood from local vendors, since transporting wood across regions is discouraged to limit invasive pests.
