Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-François-Xavier-de-Brompton, QC

Water activities dominate the area. Grand Lac Brompton supports pedal-boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming, with rentals available on site at Camping Plage Mckenzie. Mont-Orford National Park, administered by Sépaq, adds hiking, swimming, cycling, canoeing and rock climbing across several peaks including Mont Orford itself. A multi-use trail links the Lac Stukely and Lac Fraser sectors, allowing campers to move between them on foot or by bike. South of the park, Lake Memphremagog and downtown Magog offer supervised beaches, a walkable centre, and the wine and food routes that run through the Eastern Townships.

Camping in this part of Estrie is firmly a warm-season activity. The main Mont-Orford campground at Lac Stukely typically opens in early to mid-May and closes in mid-October, while the smaller Lac Fraser sector runs a shorter mid-June to early-September season. Private grounds around Magog and Grand Lac Brompton follow a similar May-to-September or May-to-October window, with exact dates set by each operator. July and August are the peak months, with the warmest weather and the busiest sites; spring and fall shoulder seasons are quieter but cooler and less predictable. Shoulder months suit RV travellers who want quieter sites. In the Sherbrooke area the average last spring frost falls around late May and frost normally returns in mid-September, giving a frost-free period of roughly 111 days. Late September into early October brings strong fall colour through the maple-dominated Mont-Orford forests. Winter RV camping is not offered in the park; only cabins and a few ready-to-camp units stay available.

French is the working language at most receptions, though staff at tourist-focused campgrounds typically also speak English. Sites range from fully serviced RV pads to rustic tent spots. Mont-Orford offers a mix of serviced, unserviced and rustic configurations across its sectors, including options at Lac Fraser. Family-oriented private grounds such as Camping Plage Mckenzie add extras like a supervised beach, on-site snack bar, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and self-serve laundry. Pet rules vary by site and beach area, with most grounds limiting one animal per site and keeping pets off swimming beaches, so confirm in advance. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the A-55 corridor but can drop inside the park interior.
