Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Henri-de-Taillon, QC

Popular activities at Pointe-Taillon include kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming, and relaxing on the park's 15 kilometres of sandy beach, plus hiking trails and an extensive network of bike paths, a third of which connects to the Véloroute des Bleuets (Blueberry Trail). The cycling path network totals 45 km and runs along Lac Saint-Jean and Rivière Péribonka, crossing a large peat bog and looping the peninsula, with 16 km connected to the Véloroute des Bleuets. Families staying at Camping Belley can use a sandy lakefront beach in the village itself, while Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre adds a marina and water-based activities on the Grande-Décharge River. The Péribonka shuttle ferry provides access to the camping area, useful for cyclists and paddlers. Rentals for bikes, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats are available at the Pointe-Taillon visitor centre.

The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and concentrated. The Pointe-Taillon sector at Parc national de la Pointe-Taillon typically operates from late May through mid-October, and the Camp-de-Touage-Les-Îles sector runs from mid-June to late September. Private operators like Camping Belley and Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre generally run from late spring through early or mid-September. Rental services in the Pointe-Taillon sector operate from mid-June to mid-August, with possible extension depending on staffing. July and August are peak season, with the warmest lake water, the longest days, and the highest demand for serviced RV sites. Late spring brings black flies and mosquitoes, especially near wooded sites. Backcountry skiing is possible on the park's bike path in the Pointe-Taillon sector, though the trail is not maintained. Winter access in this sector typically runs from mid-December to early April, depending on snow conditions. Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre stays active in winter near federated snowmobile trails.

Expect a flat, forested lakeshore landscape with sandy beaches, slow rivers, and quiet rural roads. Sites range from full-service RV pads at Complexe Touristique De La Dam-En-Terre and Camping Belley to rustic campsites in the park, some accessible by bike or on foot, and one only by water. Several Pointe-Taillon campgrounds are accessible only by water, reached by paddle or water shuttle, giving a more rustic experience. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the villages and weaker on the park's outer sectors. French is the primary language in the region, though English is commonly understood at tourist sites. Swimming at Pointe-Taillon beaches is not supervised and is at your own risk. Lac Saint-Jean is large enough that afternoon winds can build quickly, so paddlers should check conditions before heading out. Biting insects peak in June.
