Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, QC

Saint-Jean-Port-Joli sits on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, about an hour east of Quebec City along Route 132. The village is on Route 132, a scenic highway that follows the south shore of the river, with easy access to the water's edge. The area is best known as a wood-carving and artisan hub, which gives RV travellers a walkable village core to pair with riverfront camping. Campgrounds cluster in two bands: private parks right in or beside the village, and larger family resorts a short drive away. Camping Au Bonnet Rouge and Camping De La Demi-Lieue are within the municipality itself, while Camping Leclerc and Camping Riviere-Ouelle extend the options east along the river toward Bas-Saint-Laurent. Camping Le Genevrier, farther northeast in Charlevoix near Baie-Saint-Paul, suits travellers building a longer Quebec City to Charlevoix loop. Most sites in the area open from mid-May through late September, with a handful offering shoulder-season access into October.

Private campgrounds in and around Saint-Jean-Port-Joli take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Minimum-stay rules apply on long weekends: at Camping Le Genevrier, a three-night minimum is required for Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, and Thanksgiving. A two-night minimum is standard for regular weekends at many parks, and deposits are typically required at booking. For SEPAQ-managed national parks in the broader region, including Jacques-Cartier and Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie, summer reservations open in a staggered November rollout the previous year. SEPAQ opens summer camping and ready-to-camp reservations at its national parks and tourist establishments over two days in early November, in staggered time slots by park. Popular weekends sell out within minutes of each slot opening, so creating a SEPAQ account in advance is recommended.
