Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Joseph-de-Lepage, QC

Bic Provincial Park is the main outdoor draw, with about 25 km of hiking trails winding past capes, coves, and lookouts including Pic Champlain and the Saint-Fabien viewpoint. Seal colonies, nesting seabirds, and tidal flats are visible from shoreline trails, and sea kayaking, guided hikes, and wildlife talks run through the warm season. Inland, the Réserve faunique de Rimouski centres on Lac Rimouski, where families can rent canoes, kayaks, or a pontoon, fish for brook trout, and watch for moose, white-tailed deer, and beaver. Closer to home, the Matapédia River valley offers salmon-river drives, and Mont-Joli itself provides groceries, fuel, dump stations, and propane top-ups before heading deeper into the region.

The RV season in this part of Bas-Saint-Laurent is short and concentrated. Bic Provincial Park's serviced camping sectors typically open in mid-May and close in mid-October, mirroring the operating window used by most private campgrounds along Route 132. The Réserve faunique de Rimouski's Lac Rimouski registration centre runs from mid-May through the end of October, with reduced weekday hours later in the season. June through August is peak season: warm days, long evenings, and the highest demand for waterfront and serviced sites. Black flies and mosquitoes are common in June, easing through July. September brings cooler nights, fewer crowds, and strong fall colour along the river and inland valleys, though some services wind down after Labour Day. Bic Provincial Park itself stays open year-round, with winter access limited to the Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest entrance and a small number of four-season units such as yurts and cabins; most private RV parks close from late October until spring.

Expect a bilingual welcome, with French as the working language at most registration desks. Inside Bic Provincial Park, sites range from unserviced tent pads at La Coulée to two-service RV sites in the Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest and Tombolo sectors, with shared washrooms, showers, and a convenience store on site. Lac Rimouski offers a smaller mix of serviced and rustic sites with access to a registration centre, washrooms, an RV dump and water fill, and watercraft rentals. Private parks along Route 132 generally provide full hookups, dump stations, and Wi-Fi. Cell coverage is reliable near the coast and in Mont-Joli but drops off inside the wildlife reserve. Bring bug spray for early summer, layers for cool evenings, and tide tables if planning shoreline walks at Bic Provincial Park.
