Campgrounds and RV parks near Sainte-Christine-d'Auvergne, QC

Lake activities dominate the warm months. Lac Clair, shared with the neighbouring municipality of Saint-Alban, draws swimmers, paddlers, and small-boat anglers. The Parc naturel régional de Portneuf, a large territory of lakes and forest west of the village, offers hiking along river cliffs, a public beach, boat rentals, and the Trou du Diable cave. Quebec City and its old town are within easy driving distance for a day trip when campers want a break from the woods. The Mastigouche wildlife reserve, operated by Sépaq, adds canoe routes, fishing for brook trout, hiking, and trail networks on gravel forest roads. Cycling on rural Portneuf roads and visits to Neuville farm stands round out a typical RV itinerary.

The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and concentrated. Most private campgrounds in Portneuf open in early to mid-May and close in mid to late October. Camping Cap A La Roche operates on a roughly May 10 to October 20 window, while Camping Panoramique runs an early-May to late-October summer resort season, with peak family programming concentrated in July and August. June brings reliable warmth and long daylight, though black flies and mosquitoes are at their worst in the forested zones. July and August are the warmest, busiest months and align with Quebec's construction holiday in late July, when sites at full-service resorts fill quickly. September is a strong shoulder month: cool nights, fewer bugs, and early fall colour in the hardwoods. The Sépaq-managed Mastigouche reserve follows its own calendar tied to the fishing and hunting seasons, with most camping access running from mid-May into late October. Winter is for snowmobiling and ice fishing, not RV camping, as roads and services in the rural sectors are not maintained for trailers.

Sites near the village fall into two clear categories. Full-service resorts such as Camping Panoramique offer 30 and 50 amp hookups, a heated outdoor pool, a nine-hole par-three golf course, organized recreation, laundry, a convenience store, and a sanitary dump, making them well suited to larger RV rentals and families. Camping Cap A La Roche provides drinking water, 30 and 50 amp electricity, and full hookups on most of its roughly 200 sites, with laundry, showers, and a waterfront setting above the St. Lawrence. The Mastigouche sector at Lac aux Sables is rustic: shared sanitary blocks, non-potable water nearby, and gravel forest roads better suited to tents, campervans, and small trailers than to large motorhomes. Cell coverage is patchy once campers leave the main valley, and bears are present, so food storage discipline matters.
