Campgrounds and RV parks near Sainte-Flavie, QC

The St. Lawrence shoreline is the main draw. Sainte-Flavie is known for long tidal beaches, art galleries, and sunset views over the estuary. Bic Provincial Park offers hiking and biking trails, numerous lookouts over the estuary, sea kayaking, guided hikes, and wildlife observation, including seals that haul out near shore. The Réserve faunique de Matane, accessed through Lac Rimouski - Rimouski Reserve country and east toward Matane, is a destination for moose observation, fishing, and backcountry hiking, with sections of the International Appalachian Trail running through it. The Pointe-au-Père maritime historic site, with its lighthouse and Empress of Ireland museum, is a short drive west toward Rimouski.

Most private and SEPAQ campgrounds in the region operate from mid-May through early or mid-October. Camping at Bic Provincial Park runs mid-May to mid-October, and the Réserve faunique de Matane campgrounds operate from late May to early September. July and August are peak season, with the warmest weather, the longest days, and the busiest sites; popular serviced spots at Bic Provincial Park can book out weeks ahead. June brings milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and active black flies inland. September is a strong shoulder window for RV travel, with cool nights, fall colours moving down the Matapédia Valley, and quieter campgrounds. Bic Provincial Park itself is open year-round, but most campground sectors close after mid-October. The Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest entrance is the park's only entrance in the winter, and winter overnight stays shift to yurts and ready-to-camp accommodations rather than RV sites. Snow and ice make Route 132 a winter-driving route from late November through March.

Expect cool nights even in summer, with sea breezes off the estuary and fog forming along the coast on calm mornings. Site styles vary widely. Bic Provincial Park has roughly 285 campsites spread across four campgrounds, with some sites offering water and electric hookups, while inland reserves lean toward semi-serviced sites on gravel access roads. Note that the Réserve faunique de Matane has no on-site sewage disposal station, so RVers must dump in Matane or Amqui. Cell coverage is patchy once off Route 132. French is the working language across the region; English is commonly understood at park reception desks but less so at small private campgrounds. Bring layers, insect repellent for inland sites, and a tide chart for shoreline walks.
