The St. Lawrence shoreline is the main draw. Camping Cap A La Roche sits directly on the river, with fishing, paddling, and sunset views over the shipping lanes. Camping Mon Plaisir works well as a quiet base between activities. Day trips from a base near Sainte-Sophie-de-Lévrard reach Parc de la rivière Batiscan in Saint-Narcisse for hiking, tree-top courses, ziplines, and climbing on the Via Batiscan adventure trail. Heritage stops along Route 132 include the Moulin à vent de Grondines and Domaine seigneurial Sainte-Anne in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade.

The camping season in this part of Centre-du-Québec is short and centred on the warm months. Most private campgrounds open in early to mid-May and close in early to mid-October, with Camping Cap A La Roche running from around May 10 to October 20 in a typical year. Inland family parks tend to wind down earlier, once the school summer break ends. July and August are the busiest months, with the warmest weather and the highest demand for waterfront and serviced sites. June and late August can be quieter and offer easier last-minute availability. Spring openings in May can be cool and wet, and blackflies and mosquitoes are common in wooded sites through early summer. September brings cooler nights, fall colour along the St. Lawrence, and reduced services as seasonal staff wind down. Winter camping is limited in this immediate area, though Parc de la rivière Batiscan across the river has added winter sites and a dump station near its Barrage sector. The average last spring frost is around mid-May, and the first fall frost typically returns in late September.

Expect mid-sized, family-oriented campgrounds with a high share of seasonal trailers and a smaller block of traveller sites. Hookups typically include 30-amp electricity, with some 50-amp and three-service sites at larger properties. Camping Cap A La Roche offers around 200 sites, the majority with full hookups, plus pull-through sites suited to larger motorhomes and trailers. Standard amenities at most parks include showers, laundry, a small convenience store, a playground, and a pool or lake beach. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the St. Lawrence corridor and patchier in wooded inland sites. French is the primary language, though staff at larger campgrounds usually speak some English. Quiet hours are enforced, with a typical curfew around 11 p.m.
