Campgrounds and RV parks near Westbury, QC

Day trips fan out in every direction. To the south, Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook draws families for hiking, mountain biking, a mini-farm, disc golf and the Foresta Lumina night trail, and the park is known for one of the longest suspended footbridges in North America. East lies Parc national du Mont-Megantic, an International Dark Sky Reserve with an on-site ASTROLab and a network of hiking trails. The broader region is built for slow travel, with a long cycling network linking villages, vineyards and farm-cheese producers. Stops along the Route des vins de l'Estrie, local microbreweries and producer markets round out a typical Townships itinerary.

Most private campgrounds in the Westbury area operate on a standard Quebec summer season, typically opening in mid-May once the risk of frost has passed and closing by Canadian Thanksgiving in mid-October. The campground at Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook runs from mid-May to mid-October, which is a useful benchmark for the region. The average date for the last spring frost near Sherbrooke is May 28, the first fall frost normally returns around September 17, and the frost-free period averages 111 days. July and August are the peak booking window, when families fill seasonal and weekly sites. June can be the wettest stretch of the year, while September brings cooler nights and quieter campgrounds. Fall colour in the Townships is a major draw in late September and early October. Winter changes the picture: Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook keeps a winter offering for snowshoers, fat-bikers and hikers, while most private campgrounds close for the cold season.

Sites in this area range from busy resort-style family parks to quieter wooded properties. Camping du Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook is the larger, four-star option, with about 175 campsites with or without services, two four-season refuges, and five ready-to-camp tents. Expect bilingual French and English service across the region, picnic tables and fire rings at most sites, and on-site activities geared to families.
