Pickensville sits in Pickens County in west-central Alabama, on the east bank of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The town lies on Aliceville Lake, an impoundment of the Tenn-Tom created by the Tom Bevill Lock and Dam. The area draws RV travelers for lake fishing, barge-watching, and easy access to Tuscaloosa and the Mississippi state line. Camping options cluster along the waterway and nearby highways. Hidden Cove Campground RV Park and Parkwood RV Park sit closest to town, with Mill Creek RV Park, Country Dogs RV Park, and Pine Acres RV Park within reasonable driving distance. The largest public facility in the area is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pickensville Campground, which offers 176 campsites with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, electric and water hookups, and shade, plus sewer hookups at some sites. Most sites in the region accommodate travel trailers and larger motorhomes on level, wooded pads. Access roads are generally well maintained, and nearby Aliceville and Pickensville handle fuel, groceries, and last-minute supplies.

Public Corps of Engineers sites on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, including Pickensville Campground, are reserved through Recreation.gov. Sites are released on a rolling six-month window at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, and weekends in spring and fall book out early. Reserve as far ahead as the system allows, and set free cancellation alerts if a preferred loop is full. Private parks in the area, including Hidden Cove Campground RV Park, Parkwood RV Park, Mill Creek RV Park, Country Dogs RV Park, and Pine Acres RV Park, generally take reservations by phone or through their own websites. Confirm rig length, slide clearance, and hookup amperage when booking a larger motorhome. Check cancellation windows before paying deposits, and note quiet hours, pet rules, and check-in cutoffs.
