Campgrounds and RV parks near Harrison, AR

Harrison sits in the Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas and functions as the primary supply town and headquarters city for Buffalo National River, the country's first designated national river. Three main highways out of town, Highways 7, 43, and 62/65, branch off to different districts of the river corridor. RV renters use Harrison as a base for two reasons. First, the town has full-service private RV parks with hookups, laundry, and dump stations, which the national river's own campgrounds generally lack. Second, it puts floatable stretches of the Buffalo River, Ozark National Forest access points, and Branson, Missouri all within roughly an hour's drive. Commonly used private options in and around town include Harrison Village Campground and RV Park, Harrison KOA Holiday, Shady Oaks Campground and RV Park, Dogwood Springs Campground, and Ozark View RV Park. Because GPS routing is unreliable in the surrounding hollows and river bottoms, drivers of larger rigs should confirm directions with each campground before departing.

Reservable campgrounds inside Buffalo National River, including Steel Creek, Ozark, Carver, Tyler Bend, and Rush, are booked through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777. Individual campsite reservations open up to six months in advance and remain available through same-day, subject to availability. Kyles Landing, Erbie, and some sites at Buffalo Point remain first-come, first-served, so confirm the status of each campground before arrival. Private campgrounds around Harrison, including Harrison KOA Holiday, Harrison Village Campground and RV Park, Shady Oaks Campground and RV Park, Dogwood Springs Campground, and Ozark View RV Park, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites and third-party booking platforms. For holiday weekends and October color weekends, reserve four to eight weeks ahead.
