Camping near London, Arkansas
London sits in the Arkansas River Valley in Pope County, roughly midway between Russellville and Clarksville along Interstate 40. The town is small, but it functions as a quiet base for RV travelers exploring Lake Dardanelle, the Ozark National Forest to the north, and the Ouachita foothills to the south. Latitude places the area at 35.33°N, with elevation near 340 feet and river-valley terrain that stays accessible to larger rigs year round.
Most campgrounds within a short drive combine lake access with full RV hookups. Russellville - Lake Dardanelle State Park sits directly on the reservoir and is the largest full-service option nearby, with 57 campsites on the Russellville side. Mission RV Park and Ivy's Cove RV Retreat serve travelers who want a standard commercial park with hookups and pull-through sites. Mount Nebo State Park rises above the valley to the south and adds a scenic mountain option for smaller rigs.
Interstate 40 provides fast east-west access, and U.S. 64 links the smaller river-valley towns for slower touring.
Things to do near London
Lake Dardanelle is the primary draw. The 34,300-acre reservoir on the Arkansas River supports bass fishing tournaments, boating, paddling, and swimming, and Russellville - Lake Dardanelle State Park runs a visitor center with aquariums and interpretive programs on the water. Boat ramps, a covered fishing pier, and picnic areas are spread along the shoreline.
Mount Nebo State Park offers hiking, trail running, and mountain biking on several miles of marked trails, plus a Rim Trail with valley overlooks and a designated hang-gliding launch 1,350 feet above the river. The nearby Ozark National Forest adds waterfalls, wilderness hiking, and scenic drives along Highway 7.
For family activity closer to town, Xtreme Paintball and Laser Tag Eclipse Park provides a break from driving days.

The area has a humid subtropical climate classified as Cfa, with hot muggy summers, short cool winters, and rainfall spread across all months. Roughly 1,266 mm of precipitation falls annually, so gear for wet weather is worth packing in any season.
Spring is the wettest stretch and also the busiest for bass tournaments on Lake Dardanelle, so lakeside sites at the state park book out early for weekends from March through May. May is typically the single wettest month. Summer brings consistent heat and thunderstorms; shaded sites and full hookups with 30- or 50-amp service for air conditioning are worth prioritizing. Fall is generally the most comfortable window for RV travel, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color across the Ozarks in late October and early November.
Winter camping is possible at both state parks, whose campgrounds and bathhouses stay open year-round, but expect cold snaps, occasional ice, and reduced staffing at smaller commercial parks.
How to book a campsite near London
Arkansas State Parks handles campsite reservations for both Lake Dardanelle and Mount Nebo through a single online system at reserve.arkansasstateparks.com, with phone booking also available. Reservations open up to twelve months in advance of arrival. Mount Nebo State Park has 15 cabins and 34 campsites available to reserve year-round. Check-in and check-out are both at 3:00 p.m., and there is a non-refundable reservation deposit equal to the first night non-discounted rate, plus tax. Weekend bookings require a two-night minimum, and holiday weekends require three nights.
Private parks such as Mission RV Park and Ivy's Cove RV Retreat take reservations directly. Book spring tournament weekends and fall color weekends several weeks ahead.
What to expect on arrival
Lake Dardanelle sites typically include water and electric hookups, paved or gravel pads, picnic tables, and a fire ring, with a dump station on site. Cellular coverage is generally reliable across the Russellville and London corridor along I-40. Pets are welcome in all campsites at Arkansas State Parks, but must be on a leash and under the guest's direct physical control at all times when outside of a camper or tent.
Mount Nebo requires careful planning for larger rigs. Highway 155 West into the park is a one-way climb with 11 switchbacks and grades up to 18 percent, and no trailers or RVs over 24 feet are permitted. There is no dump station at the park, so plan tank service in Russellville before heading up the mountain.
