Campgrounds near Mountain Pine, Arkansas
Mountain Pine sits on the eastern shore of Lake Ouachita in west-central Arkansas, about 10 miles northwest of Hot Springs. Lake Ouachita is Arkansas's largest lake, offering 40,000 acres of clear, clean water surrounded by the scenic Ouachita National Forest. RV travelers use the town as a base for lake recreation, forested mountain scenery, and side trips into Hot Springs National Park.
Camping options fall into three categories. Lake Ouachita State Park has 93 campsites (58 Class AAA, 23 Class D, and 12 walk-in tent sites), some located right on the water, plus eight fully equipped cabins with kitchens overlooking the lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages Lake Ouachita and offers 13 campgrounds around the lake with various amenities and settings, bookable through Recreation.gov. Private RV parks in the surrounding area, including Treasure Isle RV Park, Lake Hamilton RV Resort, Hot Rod Hill RV Park, and Ron Coleman Mining RV Park, add year-round hookups, laundry, and other amenities.
Expect a heavily wooded, hilly setting. Cell coverage inside the state park campground is limited, so download maps and confirmation details before arrival.
Things to do near Mountain Pine
The lake drives most of the itinerary. Swimming, skiing, scuba diving, boating, kayaking, and fishing are enjoyed here, with bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass, and largemouth bass caught in open waters or quiet coves. A full-service marina provides rental boats, motors, and party barges, plus rental slips, live bait, fuel, and fishing supplies.
On land, the Caddo Bend Trail provides a 4-mile hiking experience as it meanders through the forests and along the shoreline of Point 50 Peninsula, and the shorter Dogwood Trail loops near Camp Area C. The park also preserves the site of the historic Three Sisters springs, once touted for the curative properties of their mineral waters. The surrounding Ouachita National Forest adds more hiking and mountain biking, and Hot Springs National Park is roughly a 30-minute drive southeast for Bathhouse Row and short mountain trails.

The Lake Ouachita State Park campground and picnic area are open all year, and restrooms are open all year, while the marina runs from March through October and is closed November through February. On-site boat rentals and fuel are therefore not available in winter.
Corps of Engineers campgrounds around the lake follow a seasonal schedule. Several close or reduce services after late October and reopen in early spring, while a smaller subset stays open through the off-season. Booking windows vary by campground, so confirm on Recreation.gov for the specific site.
The park is open year-round, with its peak season beginning in April and going until October. Summer weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day are the busiest, and lakefront sites can book many months out. Spring brings the region's wettest months and the highest chance of thunderstorms. Fall delivers cooler, drier weather and thinner crowds, which is often the sweet spot for RV travelers who want lake access without the peak summer heat.

How to book near Mountain Pine
Lake Ouachita State Park sites and cabins are reserved through the Arkansas State Parks reservation system. A nonrefundable reservation deposit equal to the first night's non-discounted rate plus tax is required, and any cancellations will result in the loss of that deposit. Campsites are limited to fourteen rental nights within a thirty-day period. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 3:00 p.m. Campsites are limited to occupancy by eight persons, and camping units may consist of no more than two structures: one RV and one tent or two tents.
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Lake Ouachita book through Recreation.gov or by phone at 877-444-6777. Booking windows vary by facility, so check individual campground pages.
Private parks such as Treasure Isle RV Park, Lake Hamilton RV Resort, Hot Rod Hill RV Park, and Ron Coleman Mining RV Park book directly through each operator.
What to expect at Mountain Pine campgrounds
Terrain around Mountain Pine is hilly and pine-covered, with narrow, winding approach roads on the north and west sides of the lake. Larger rigs should stick to signed campground access routes and confirm site length limits before booking, especially at Corps campgrounds where some loops are tighter than others.
At Lake Ouachita State Park, many sites have dual-voltage electricity and freeze-proof water hookups, all have paved camping spurs and a table and grill, modern bathhouses with hot showers are handy to all sites, and two sanitary dump stations are conveniently located. Cell service is minimal at most sites.
Summers are humid and often above 90 degrees, so shade and hookups matter. Gathering of firewood in the park is strictly prohibited, and campers are not allowed to bring their own firewood from home; the park provides firewood near the park office.

recreation.gov/camping/gateways/147When is the best time of year for an RV trip to Mountain Pine?
Mountain Pine is a true three-and-a-half-season destination thanks to Arkansas's mild climate. April through early June brings 70 to 85 degree days, wildflowers, and prime bass fishing, while September through early November delivers crisp 60 to 78 degree weather and brilliant Ouachita Mountain foliage. July and August are hot and humid with highs in the low 90s, perfect for swimming in Lake Ouachita's famously clear water but rough without a strong AC. Winter stays mild (40s to 55s) and Lake Ouachita State Park even runs eagle-watching boat cruises from December through February. Pro tip: book a mid-October weekend for peak fall color paired with quiet campsites and bargain RV rates.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/lake-ouachita-state-parkI'm a first-time RV renter. Will I be okay driving around Mountain Pine?
You've got this, and Mountain Pine is one of the friendlier places in Arkansas to learn. First time renting an RV usually starts with a hands-on walkthrough from your RVezy host covering the propane, slide-outs, water hookups, and dump valves before you ever turn the key. The roads in are forgiving: Highway 227 into Lake Ouachita State Park is a paved two-lane with gentle curves, and most state park loops are designed for big rigs up to 50 feet. If you'd rather not drive at all, choose a host that offers RV delivery in Mountain Pine and they'll handle the tricky parts. Pro tip: do a quick lap of an empty parking lot before heading to your campsite to get a feel for the rear swing.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/lake-ouachita-state-parkWhat happens if I have an issue with the RV during my trip?
Help is always a phone call away on every RV rental in Mountain Pine. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, or towing on Highway 270 or out near the Brady Mountain peninsula are handled fast. Your host is also your first friendly resource for quirks like the water pump or awning, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the host's driveway. Pro tip: cell service can be spotty near Lake Ouachita State Park, so screenshot the contact numbers in case you lose signal in the coves.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Mountain Pine RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Yes, an RV road trip from Mountain Pine can absolutely cross into Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, or beyond, with popular routes heading west to Broken Bow, OK (about 175 miles) or south to Caddo Lake, TX (about 230 miles). Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance underwriter, so message the host directly through the listing before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Pro tip: confirm your route with the host in writing on the RVezy message thread so everyone is on the same page from day one.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan ahead and your fuel budget for a Mountain Pine RV trip stays very manageable. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans average 16 to 20, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically lands around 10 to 13. Regular gas in the Mountain Pine and Hot Springs area usually runs a bit below the national average. For a 4-night loop covering Lake Ouachita, Hot Springs National Park, and DeGray Lake (roughly 200 miles total), most renters spend $80 to $160 on fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Hot Springs before heading west on Highway 270 because gas stations thin out quickly once you pass Mountain Pine toward the Ouachita National Forest.

For the best sites, book your campsite as soon as you book your motorhome rental in Mountain Pine. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Ouachita, plus Gulpha Gorge inside Hot Springs National Park, use Recreation.gov with a 6-month rolling window. Weeknights typically have a 2-night minimum and holiday weekends require 3 nights. Pro tip: if summer weekends are booked solid, snag a Sunday through Thursday stay instead, you'll often save money and have the swimming coves practically to yourself.
reserve.arkansasstateparks.com/lake-ouachita/campingWhat are local driving conditions like around Mountain Pine?
Driving an RV around Mountain Pine is generally relaxed once you know what to expect. The main routes (Highway 270, Highway 227, and Mountain Pine Road) are paved, well-maintained two-lane roads with rolling Ouachita Mountain grades, gentle curves, and the occasional logging truck. Wildlife (deer especially) is most active at dawn and dusk, so cruise a bit slower then. Summer afternoons can bring quick thunderstorms, and winter cold snaps may leave a brief icy patch on bridges, though snow is rare. The closest big-city traffic is in Hot Springs, where Central Avenue near Bathhouse Row gets congested on weekends. Pro tip: avoid downtown Hot Springs in a 30+ foot rig and park at Gulpha Gorge or Hill Wheatley Plaza instead, then walk Bathhouse Row.

Mountain Pine campgrounds are well-equipped for any size RV. At Lake Ouachita State Park, 58 Class AAA sites offer water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric, plus paved spurs that fit rigs up to 50 feet. Gulpha Gorge in Hot Springs National Park gives you full hookups (30/50 amp, water, sewer) at all 40 sites for $34 a night. Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Brady Mountain and Crystal Springs offer water/electric sites with central dump stations. Pro tip: cell service is genuinely limited at Lake Ouachita State Park, so download maps and entertainment before leaving Hot Springs.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/247559What features and equipment come standard in a Mountain Pine RV rental?
Expect a comfortable, road-ready setup on nearly every campervan rental in Mountain Pine and on larger motorhomes too. Most listings come with a queen or king bed, sofa or dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC, furnace, and a fresh-water tank for boondocking on the Ouachita National Forest islands. Many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and a generator for off-grid days. Always check the listing for sleeps count, seatbelt count, and whether linens are included. Pro tip: if you're heading to a primitive Corps of Engineers site, prioritize an RV with a generator and solar so you can stay off-grid comfortably.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/lake-ouachita-state-parkWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for when booking?
RVezy hosts in Mountain Pine offer add-ons that can make your trip dramatically easier. Common extras include kitchen kits, linen and towel packages, bike racks, kayak roof racks, portable BBQs, generators, and Starlink satellite internet, all priced by the host on the listing page. Mileage policies vary, with some listings featuring unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator for a true zero-stress arrival, especially for a family RV trip Mountain Pine first-timers will remember.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mountain%20Pine%2C%20ArkansasHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your RV rental in Mountain Pine is handled entirely through RVezy's secure platform, so there is no cash, e-transfer, or off-platform payment to a host, ever. You will pay the rental total (nightly rate, fees, your chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) at the time of booking. The security deposit is separate from the booking payment and is placed as a pre-authorization hold on your credit card shortly before pickup, then released after the trip once the RV is returned in the same condition. Amounts vary by listing and protection level. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround of the RV with your host at both pickup and drop-off so any pre-existing scuffs are clearly documented and your deposit is released quickly.
