Campgrounds near Ensley, Florida
Ensley is an unincorporated community in Escambia County, just north of Pensacola in the western Florida panhandle. It sits along US-29 and is within a short drive of Interstate 10, which makes it a practical staging point for RV travelers heading to Gulf Coast beaches, Naval Air Station Pensacola, and the Blackwater River corridor to the east.
Private RV parks dominate the immediate area. Drifters RV Park and Five Flags RV Park are the closest options for renters looking to stay near Ensley itself, while Pensacola RV Park sits near the I-10 corridor and caters to travelers looking for full hookups and pull-through sites. A short drive brings travelers to Unhitched Leisure Lakes RV Park and Leisure Lakes RV Resort, which offer longer-stay and snowbird-oriented setups.
For renters who want a state-park experience, Big Lagoon State Park and Gulf Islands National Seashore lie south of Pensacola on the coast, and Blackwater River State Park sits about an hour east near Holt.
Things to do near Ensley
Beaches are the main draw. Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key sit roughly 20 to 30 minutes south, with warm Gulf water from late spring through fall and long stretches of protected shoreline within Gulf Islands National Seashore. Big Lagoon State Park offers swimming, kayaking, fishing for redfish and sea trout, and an observation tower popular with birders during spring and fall migration.
Families often build a day around the National Naval Aviation Museum on NAS Pensacola or Historic Pensacola Village downtown. Anglers can fish coastal piers and inshore bays, and paddlers can float the Blackwater and Coldwater Rivers to the east. Golf, casual seafood, and Blue Angels flight practice at NAS Pensacola round out a typical week in the area.

How to book near Ensley
Private parks in the Ensley area, including Drifters RV Park, Five Flags RV Park, Pensacola RV Park, Unhitched Leisure Lakes RV Park, and Leisure Lakes RV Resort, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Snowbird months fill early, so renters targeting January through March should book several months ahead and confirm rig-length and slide-out clearance before arrival.
For nearby public campgrounds, the Florida State Parks reservation portal handles Big Lagoon and Blackwater River state parks. Florida residents may make reservations up to 11 months in advance, while non-residents may book up to 10 months in advance. Gulf Islands National Seashore uses Recreation.gov, and Fort Pickens campsites are available for reservations up to 6 months in advance.
What to expect on the ground
Most private RV parks near Ensley are flat, pine-shaded properties with 30 and 50 amp service, full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Pensacola RV Park offers big-rig pull-through sites with easy access from the interstate corridor. Cell coverage is generally strong across Escambia County.
Big Lagoon State Park sites are set back from the shoreline with short boardwalk access to the water, and pets are not allowed on beaches within Gulf Islands National Seashore. Expect mosquitoes and biting flies in the warmer months, especially near marshes and freshwater ponds; bring repellent and a screen room if traveling in summer.
Store refuse in sealed containers. Raccoons and armadillos are common park visitors, and alligators live in freshwater ponds inside area state parks.

Plans shift, and RVezy is built for that. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking, so the terms are consistent rather than chosen by individual hosts. Refund eligibility depends on how far out you are from your trip start date and the specific policy applied to your booking. On the hurricane-prone Gulf Coast, it's smart to plan ahead, hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Pro tip: book early to claim the best Pensacola-area RVs for Blue Angels weekends or spring break, then review the cancellation terms in your booking confirmation so you know your options before your trip locks in.

Many local hosts will drive the RV to your chosen campground, like Big Lagoon State Park or Pensacola Beach RV Resort, level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts who offer this service, then message them with your campsite number so they can quote an accurate fee. Pro tip: delivery turns a campervan rental in Ensley into a true zero-stress vacation, you literally just show up with groceries and flip-flops.

weather.gov/mob/I've never rented an RV before. What support do I get?
First time renting an RV? You're in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery), walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water and waste tanks, awning, propane, and dashboard controls until you feel comfortable. You can message your host directly through the RVezy app for questions during the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip if you need a hand. Pro tip: pick a Class B campervan or Class C motorhome for your first Ensley RV trip, they drive much more like a large van than the big Class A coaches.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a problem on the road?
You're never stranded on an Ensley RV trip. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick questions about the RV's quirks, and RVezy's support team backs everything up. In Florida, you can also dial *FHP (*347) on a mobile phone to reach the Florida Highway Patrol on state highways. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the VIN, license plate, and tire size at pickup, it makes any roadside service call go much faster.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ensley RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most Ensley RV rentals, and the location is perfect for it. Ensley sits a short drive from the Alabama border and within easy reach of Mississippi via I-10, putting Gulf Shores, Mobile, and even New Orleans on the table. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package you choose, so message the host before booking if that's on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a classic Gulf Coast loop from Ensley runs west to Gulf Shores, AL, then east along US-98 through Destin and 30A to Panama City Beach.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow should I budget for fuel on a Florida Panhandle RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable on any Ensley RV trip, so plan ahead. Class C motorhomes typically average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (mpg), Class B campervans get 15 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but expect 10 to 14 mpg combined. Florida gas prices generally run a bit below the national average, and Ensley has plenty of large-format truck stops along I-10 at Pine Forest Road that fit big rigs comfortably. For a 7-day trip with 500 miles of driving in a Class C, budget roughly $200 to $300 for gas. Pro tip: use GasBuddy and fill up at Pensacola-area stations before crossing into Alabama, prices typically jump at the state line.

Private parks like Pensacola Beach RV Resort and Pensacola RV Park can sometimes be booked closer in. Watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms from June through September that can drop heavy rain quickly, and be hurricane-aware from June 1 through November 30. The Pensacola Bay Bridge and Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach have generous height clearances, no issues for standard RVs.
