Campgrounds and RV parks near Greenville, FL

The Suwannee and Withlacoochee rivers dominate outdoor recreation. Suwannee River State Park sits at the confluence of the two rivers and offers hiking, a boat ramp for paddlers and anglers, and access to the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, a paddling route with river camps and hubs along the river's 246-mile run from southern Georgia to the Gulf. Madison RV & Golf Resort has an on-site golf course and pool, useful for families spending a rest day at the campground. The historic downtown of Madison, roughly fifteen miles east of Greenville, has antebellum architecture, the Treasures of Madison County Museum, and Lake Frances Park. For day trips, Tallahassee sits about an hour west, and Madison Blue Spring and other clear-water springs are within an hour's drive for swimming and snorkeling.

North Florida has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with daytime highs in the seventies and eighties, lower humidity, and less rain than mid-summer. River levels and wildflowers are typically favorable in April and October. Summer brings daily highs around 90 degrees, high humidity, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. June through August is the wettest stretch, with August often the rainiest month. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, with peak activity from mid-August through October; inland Madison County is less exposed than the coast but can still see tropical rain and wind. Winter is the slower season for outdoor activity but remains mild, and it is a popular period for snowbirds moving along the interstate corridor toward destinations farther south. Freezes are possible but usually brief, and most private campgrounds stay open year-round.

Sites near Greenville are generally level and shaded by pines and live oaks, with sandy soil that drains well after rain. Most commercial parks offer 30 and 50 amp service, full hookups, and pull-throughs long enough for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. Cell coverage is reliable along the I-10 corridor but can weaken inside Suwannee River State Park. Expect biting insects, especially mosquitoes and no-see-ums, from late spring through early fall, and bring repellent. Alligators are present in area rivers and swamps, so keep pets leashed near water. Summer thunderstorms can be intense but usually brief. Groceries, fuel, and RV supplies are easiest to find in Madison and Live Oak. Greenville itself is a small town with limited services, so most travelers stock up before arrival or make short runs to the larger towns nearby.
