The Ocala National Forest anchors the outdoor calendar. Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs, and Salt Springs offer swimming in clear, constant-temperature spring water, paddling on spring runs, and short hiking loops. The Florida National Scenic Trail crosses the forest for backpackers and day hikers, and Lake George offers boat ramps and bass fishing. Silver Springs State Park, minutes from downtown, runs glass-bottom boat tours over the spring vents and rents kayaks for the Silver River. Downtown Ocala has a walkable historic square, and the World Equestrian Center on the north side of town hosts horse shows and events year-round. For families, the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and the Appleton Museum of Art give indoor options during summer storms.

Winter and early spring are the busiest RV seasons. From roughly November through April, temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and mosquitoes are minimal.
