Camping near Havana, Florida
Havana sits in Gadsden County in Florida's Big Bend region, roughly 20 minutes north of Tallahassee and close to the Georgia state line. The area combines rolling piney woods, spring-fed lakes, and access to the Ochlockonee and Apalachicola river systems, which shape most of the surrounding camping options. RV renters typically use Havana as a quiet base for exploring Tallahassee's state parks and the Lake Seminole and Lake Talquin reservoirs.
Private RV parks in the immediate area include Big Oak RV Park and Tallahassee RV Park, both of which cater to travelers moving along the Interstate 10 corridor. Florida Park Tallahassee provides another full-hookup option closer to the city, while Ingram's Marina LLC and Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge focus on lakeside and fish-camp style stays.
The region blends developed private parks with nearby state parks and state forest campgrounds, giving families flexibility between amenity-heavy RV resorts and more rustic waterfront sites.
Things to do around Havana
Water activities dominate the trip list. Lake Talquin, Lake Seminole, and the Ochlockonee River are the main draws for bass fishing, kayaking, and pontoon rentals, and Ingram's Marina LLC serves as a working boat-ramp base for Lake Seminole access. Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge leans into the region's fishing and seasonal hunting traditions.
In Tallahassee, Alfred B. Maclay Gardens offers a brick walkway, reflection pool, and hundreds of azaleas and camellias, with walking trails and swimming and kayaking at Lake Hall. Wakulla Springs State Park adds glass-bottom boat tours and manatee viewing in cooler months.
Downtown Havana itself is known for antique shops, restaurants, and small galleries, making it an easy half-day break from campground time.

North Florida has a humid subtropical climate, and the shoulder seasons are the sweet spot for RV travel. Tallahassee sees hot, wet summers and mild, cooler winters, with rainfall concentrated in the warmer months. Late fall through early spring brings the most comfortable camping weather and fewer bugs, making it the peak RV season across the Big Bend.
Summer is hot and stormy. Heavy afternoon thunderstorms are common from June through August and contribute the bulk of the roughly 59 inches of annual rainfall. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity in August and September, and coastal state parks in the Big Bend can close on short notice when storms approach.
Winter nights can get cold enough to matter for water hookups. Freezing temperatures happen periodically from November to April in Tallahassee, and one or two nights a year on average drop to 20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. RV renters should plan to disconnect or heat-tape hoses during hard freezes and confirm which nearby parks stay open year-round.
How to book campsites near Havana
Private parks handle their own reservations directly. Big Oak RV Park, Tallahassee RV Park, Florida Park Tallahassee, Ingram's Marina LLC, and Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge each take bookings by phone or through their own websites, and calling ahead is the fastest way to confirm rig-length limits and hookup type.
For Florida state parks in the area, reservations can be made through the Florida State Parks reservation website or by calling 800-326-3521 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Florida residents may make reservations up to 11 months in advance, non-residents up to 10 months, and any unreserved sites may be rented to walk-in visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
New sites become available for reservation daily at 8 a.m. Eastern Time, and popular sites can book in minutes, so log in early for weekends and holidays.
What to expect on site
Private parks near Havana generally offer full hookups, gravel or concrete pads, and pull-through sites suited to larger rental rigs. Tallahassee-area parks along I-10 are set up primarily for overnight and short-stay travelers, so expect efficient utilities and easy access rather than resort-style amenities.
Marina and fish-camp properties such as Ingram's Marina LLC and Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge lean more rustic, with boat ramps, bait access, and simpler site layouts. Water and electric are typical, but sewer hookups and Wi-Fi coverage vary, so confirm at booking.
Expect Spanish moss, mosquitoes in warm months, and occasional wildlife including deer, armadillos, and alligators near any water. Bring bug spray, keep food secured, and follow posted rules about pets and quiet hours.

Florida State Parks like Three Rivers in nearby Sneads also allow leashed pets in most camping areas. Message the host before booking if you have multiple dogs or a large breed, and you're set for a tail-wagging Florida Panhandle trip.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-florida-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Havana?
Yes, and it's one of the best ways to start a stress-free trip. RV delivery Havana hosts offer means the rig comes to your campsite, your driveway, or a nearby park, already leveled and hooked up with a full orientation waiting for you. Popular delivery destinations from Havana include Tallahassee RV Park about 25 minutes south, Lake Talquin State Forest campgrounds 20 minutes away, and Three Rivers State Park in Sneads roughly 45 minutes west. Delivery fees vary by host and distance but are clearly listed on each RVezy listing before you book. For a first time renting an RV, delivery is the simplest path: you show up, they teach you the systems, and your vacation starts immediately.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/three-rivers-state-parkHow many miles can I drive on an RV rental from Havana?
Plenty, especially when you choose the right listing. Most Havana hosts include a daily mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 free miles per day, with reasonable per-mile fees if you go over. Looking for an RV rental with unlimited mileage? Filter for it directly on RVezy, and you'll see hosts who offer it, which is perfect for longer loops. From Havana you can comfortably reach St. George Island (95 miles south), Panama City Beach (110 miles southwest), Apalachicola (75 miles south), or Gainesville (165 miles southeast) without straining a daily cap. Map your route before booking and match it to the host's policy. Pro tip: book a host with unlimited miles if you're chasing Gulf beaches.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsWhere are the best campgrounds near Havana, FL?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Havana, FL include Tallahassee RV Park, about 20 minutes south with full hookups, level gravel pads, and 50-amp service; Big Oak RV Park in Tallahassee, popular with big rigs; Three Rivers State Park in Sneads, perched above Lake Seminole with electric and water hookups; Torreya State Park in Bristol, known for bluff views over the Apalachicola River; and Ed and Bernice's Fish Camp on the Ochlockonee River for waterfront sites and fishing. Each fits a different vibe, from urban convenience to true Panhandle wilderness, so pick the scene that matches your RV camping Havana plans and book your site before you reserve the rig.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/torreya-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Havana, FL?
The sweet spot is October through April, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80 degree range and humidity finally backs off. Havana's North Florida climate brings hot, sticky summers with July and August highs around 91 degrees and heat index readings that can hit 110, plus afternoon thunderstorms almost daily. Winters are mild, with January lows around 42 and highs near 60, making cold-weather camping perfectly doable. Spring wildflowers and fall festivals like the Havana Pumpkin Festival in October are bonus reasons to visit in the shoulder seasons. Book your Havana RV rental for March or November and you'll get the best weather of the year.
weather.gov/tae/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Havana?
You'll do great, and Havana is genuinely one of the easier places to learn. The roads around town are flat, the speed limits are low, and US-27 and I-10 are wide and well-marked once you're ready to stretch out. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, hookups, slide-outs, and dumping the tanks, and you can text them anytime during your trip. If you're nervous about driving a big rig, book a smaller Class C motorhome or a campervan rental Havana hosts list, or choose delivery so you don't drive it at all. Most first-time renters are behind the wheel and confident within an hour.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/driving-safety/What if something breaks down during my RV trip near Havana?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on US-27, a dead battery at a Lake Talquin campsite, or a tow situation on I-10 gets handled with one phone call. Your host is also just a message away for quick questions about the awning, generator, or appliances, and RVezy customer support is available throughout your trip. Tallahassee, about 20 minutes south of Havana, has multiple RV service centers for anything more involved. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave and you can relax knowing help is always nearby.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips from Havana, FL?
You're perfectly positioned for a memorable RV road trip from Havana. Head 95 miles south to St. George Island State Park for sugar-white Gulf beaches and excellent shelling. Drive 110 miles southwest to Panama City Beach for boardwalk energy and emerald water. Roll 165 miles east to the Suwannee River for paddling and old-Florida charm. Cross into Georgia for a 35-mile jaunt to Thomasville's antique shops, or aim 200 miles west to Pensacola Beach. Cross-border into Georgia and Alabama is generally allowed, but trips into Mexico are not permitted on RVezy rentals. Confirm any out-of-state plans in the booking notes and your host will make sure the rig is ready.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/dr-julian-g-bruce-st-george-island-state-parkWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas costs should I budget for?
Budgeting is easier than most people expect. Class C motorhomes around Havana typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A coaches average 6 to 10, and travel trailers depend on the tow vehicle but usually pull 10 to 14 MPG. Florida gas prices generally run a few cents below the national average, and you'll find Wawa, RaceTrac, and Murphy stations along US-27 and I-10 with diesel pumps tall enough for big rigs. For a 5-day, 500-mile loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $200 to $300 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Quincy or Midway just south of Havana, where prices are often lower than in Tallahassee.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Havana?
For Florida State Parks, book as early as you can: reservations open 11 months ahead through ReserveAmerica's Florida State Parks system, and popular spots like Three Rivers, Torreya, and St. George Island fill fast for weekends and holidays. Private parks such as Tallahassee RV Park and Big Oak RV Park usually need 2 to 6 weeks of lead time, but FSU home football weekends sell out months in advance. For midweek stays in shoulder season, even 3 to 5 days out is often fine. Pro tip: pair your RVezy booking date with your campsite reservation date so you're confirmed on both sides before paying any deposits.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Havana, FL?
Driving here is refreshingly relaxed. Havana sits on US-27 in rural Gadsden County, with mostly flat terrain, light traffic, and a small-town pace that makes RV driving comfortable. I-10 just south of town is the main east-west artery and has wide lanes plus generous rest areas. Watch for afternoon thunderstorms from June through September, which can drop visibility quickly, and stay weather-aware during the June 1 through November 30 Atlantic hurricane season. Deer are common at dawn and dusk on county roads, so slow down after sunset. Tallahassee, 20 minutes south, has a few low railroad overpasses, so know your RV's height (usually 11 to 13 feet) and stick to truck routes through the city.
fl511.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Havana?
Expect solid infrastructure across the area. Most private RV parks near Havana, like Tallahassee RV Park and Big Oak RV Park, offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, free Wi-Fi, laundry, and clean shower houses. Florida State Parks such as Three Rivers and Torreya provide water and 30/50-amp electric at sites plus centralized dump stations and bathhouses, though sewer hookups are less common. Potable water fill stations are standard, and most parks accept dump-only visitors for a small fee. Pro tip for RV camping Havana trips: top off fresh water before leaving Tallahassee, and use the free dump station at Tom Brown Park if you're staying somewhere primitive.
floridastateparks.org/rv-campingWhat's actually included inside an RV rental in Havana?
More than you'd think, and you'll be comfortable from night one. Most Havana RV rentals come with real beds (typically queens plus convertible dinettes), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning that you'll absolutely use in summer, propane heat for cool winter nights, and seatbelts for everyone riding. Many hosts include linens, cookware, outdoor chairs, and a hose and power cord. Generators, TVs, and Wi-Fi hotspots are common on Class A and Class C rigs, while compact campervans focus on essentials. Each RVezy listing spells out exactly what's included, so you'll know before you book and can pack light.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rvs-recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons for an RV rental in Havana FL include linens and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, bike racks, generators, propane refills, outdoor grills, and kayak or bike rentals. Delivery and setup are widely offered, with fees typically based on distance from the host, and many hosts will meet you at Tallahassee International Airport (25 minutes south) for an easy fly-in pickup. Mileage policies range from a daily allowance with overage fees to fully unlimited miles, both clearly shown on the listing. Message the host before booking to bundle add-ons or adjust pickup time. The more you customize upfront, the smoother your road trip starts.
talgov.com/airport/airport.aspxHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Havana?
Payment is simple and fully handled on the platform. You pay through RVezy with a credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything tracked and protected. A separate refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup, with the amount shown on the listing before you book, typically ranging from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV's value. The deposit is released after the trip once the host confirms the rig came back clean, on time, and undamaged. To avoid issues, take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff, refill propane and fuel as agreed, and follow the pet and smoking rules listed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Havana during the summer heat or hurricane season?
Yes, and many travelers do. Summer in Havana brings highs near 91 degrees with high humidity, so look for RVezy listings with strong roof air conditioning and plan campsites with 50-amp electric so you can run the AC freely, which rules out most boondocking in July and August. Drive in the morning when temperatures are lower, hydrate constantly, and use the shaded sites at Lake Talquin and Torreya State Park. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity in August and September. Watch the National Weather Service Tallahassee forecast and check RVezy's cancellation policy before your trip for storm-related guidance.
