Campgrounds and RV parks near Holley, FL

The main draw is Navarre Beach, a barrier-island stretch of white quartz sand with a long fishing pier, marine science station, and calm sound-side swimming areas that suit families with young kids. Kayak and paddleboard rentals operate from the sound side, and dolphin sightings are common year-round. West of town, historic Fort Pickens sits on Santa Rosa Island. The pentagonal fort was built to defend Pensacola Bay and completed in 1834, and it was one of the few Southern forts that remained in Union hands throughout the Civil War. Day trips reach Pensacola's historic downtown, the National Naval Aviation Museum, and the nature trails of Blackwater River State Forest. Inland, Blackwater River State Park offers tubing, canoeing, and shaded hiking on a clear sand-bottom river. Anglers surf-cast from the beach, wade the sound, or fish the Navarre Beach Pier, which is covered by its own saltwater pier license so no personal license is required to fish from it.

Spring, from March through May, is the most reliable window: warm days, moderate humidity, and Gulf water warming steadily through the season. May is typically the driest month of the year at this stretch of the Emerald Coast. Snowbirds fill monthly sites through March, so shorter stays open up more consistently after Easter. Summer is peak family season and also peak humidity and rain. It runs from June through August, with average highs near 90 degrees Fahrenheit in July and August. August is the wettest month, and afternoon thunderstorms are near-daily, so mornings on the beach are the play. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with the statistical peak in late August and September, so travelers should monitor forecasts and know their park's evacuation policy. Fall cools quickly after Labor Day and often delivers the best weather of the year, though September remains active for tropical systems. Winter is mild but variable, with occasional cold fronts pushing overnight lows into the 30s and 40s.

Private parks around Holley are generally compact, flat, and sunny, with sandy soil and limited mature shade. Expect full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp), paved or concrete pads, and Wi-Fi at most sites. Some smaller parks have limited bathhouse facilities, and highway noise can be noticeable at parks close to U.S. 98, so travelers who want quiet should ask about site placement. Fort Pickens Campground has 137 family sites with electric (20, 30, and 50 amp) and water hookups, plus 40 non-electric tent sites and wheelchair-accessible sites. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. There are no sewer hookups at individual sites and no boat ramps in the Fort Pickens area. Pets are not allowed on any beach within Gulf Islands National Seashore, so plan alternate dog-walking routes if traveling with pets.
