RV camping near Point Baker, Florida
Point Baker is an unincorporated community in Santa Rosa County in the Florida Panhandle, sitting just west of Naval Air Station Whiting Field and a short drive north of Milton. The area functions as a base camp for the Blackwater River corridor, Coldwater Creek, and the Gulf beaches at Navarre and Pensacola, roughly 25 to 35 minutes south by car. RV travelers use Point Baker to reach paddling waters, state forest trails, and the interstate, all without staying in a coastal resort zone.
Camping options range from creek-side outfitter grounds to full-service resorts. Adventures Unlimited sits on Coldwater Creek in the pine woods north of Milton, with hookup and primitive sites next to a canoe and zip-line outfitter. Splash RV Resort & Waterpark is a newer family park off I-10 with a lazy river, heated pools, and full hookups.
Additional nearby options include Unhitched Milton RV Park, Milton / Gulf Pines KOA Holiday, and Unhitched Garcon Point RV Park, which give access to Blackwater Bay and Gulf shorelines. Together they cover most RV needs, from paved big-rig pads to shaded creek-side sites.
Things to do near Point Baker
Paddling is the marquee activity. Coldwater Creek and the Blackwater River are sand-bottom streams with wide white sandbars, popular for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and paddleboarding. Adventures Unlimited runs shuttled trips on Coldwater Creek from its Tomahawk Landing base and also operates a zip-line canopy tour with lines strung above the creek.
Blackwater River State Park, a short drive east, adds hiking, swimming from the sandbars, and wildlife watching for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, gopher tortoises, and great blue herons. Blackwater River State Forest surrounds the park with off-highway-vehicle trails, equestrian routes, and remote fishing lakes such as Karick and Hurricane.
For beach days, Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach are within roughly 25 to 35 minutes by car, and downtown Milton offers Riverwalk Park along the Blackwater River.

Spring is prime time. March through May brings warm days, comfortable nights, and one of the driest stretches of the year, with average highs climbing from the low 70s to the mid 80s Fahrenheit. Wildflowers bloom in the state forest and paddling water is clear but still cool. Coldwater Creek runs cool year-round, which makes early spring dips brisk.
Summer runs hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and the region's heaviest rainfall, peaking in July. This is the busiest paddling and beach season, and it overlaps with Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30 with peak activity in August and September. Trip plans should include a weather-monitoring habit and flexibility on dates.
Fall cools after September and brings a drier, more stable stretch as summer storms fade. Winter is mild, with highs typically in the low 60s Fahrenheit and occasional freezing nights, and most area campgrounds stay open year-round.

We absolutely loved staying in John's RV. If you are worried about the AC not being cold enough, have no fear, it works wonderfully even in Florida's heat. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your wonderful RV. If we need to rent again, we will absolutely be reaching out.

How to book campgrounds near Point Baker
Private parks such as Adventures Unlimited, Splash RV Resort & Waterpark, Unhitched Milton RV Park, Milton / Gulf Pines KOA Holiday, and Unhitched Garcon Point RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines. Holiday weekends, spring break, and summer beach weeks fill first, so book several weeks out.
Public campgrounds use separate systems. Blackwater River State Park accepts reservations up to 11 months in advance through the Florida State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica or by calling 800-326-3521, with a non-refundable reservation fee charged per booking. Blackwater River State Forest sites, including Karick Lake, Hurricane Lake, Bear Lake, and Krul, book up to 11 months in advance through FloridaStateForests.ReserveAmerica.com.
Check rig-length limits during booking. Not every site at Blackwater River State Park can accommodate longer rigs, so verify site dimensions before reserving.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a mix of pine-shaded creek-side sites and open, paved resort pads. Adventures Unlimited leans rustic, with hookup sites, primitive walk-to sites along the water, and sandy access roads. Splash RV Resort has concrete pads, full hookups, and a waterpark, though sites near I-10 pick up highway noise.
Cell coverage from major carriers is generally reliable near Milton and I-10 but weakens deeper into the state forest. Bring bug spray from spring through fall, since mosquitoes and biting flies are common near the creeks.
Noise from Naval Air Station Whiting Field, a busy Navy training base, is a daily fact of life around Point Baker, and helicopter and training-aircraft traffic can be loud. Fuel, groceries, and RV supplies are easy to find in Milton and Pace.
