Camping near Quincy, Florida
Quincy sits in Gadsden County in the Florida Panhandle, roughly 20 miles west of Tallahassee and just north of Lake Talquin. The area works well as an RV base for anglers, paddlers, and families who prefer quiet lake shorelines rather than crowded coastal resorts. Most nearby campgrounds cluster around Lake Talquin, an 8,850-acre impoundment on the Ochlockonee River formed by the Jackson Bluff Dam in the late 1920s.
Private lakeside options close to town include Ingram's Marina LLC, Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge, and Ed & Bernice's Fish Camp, all oriented around fishing, boat launches, and cabin or RV stays. Flat Creek Family Campground and RV Park offers a more general family camping setup, while Florida Park Tallahassee provides an option closer to Tallahassee amenities.
Public land nearby includes Lake Talquin State Park on the south shore and Lake Talquin State Forest, which spans more than 19,000 acres across Gadsden, Leon, and Liberty counties and contains the primitive High Bluff Campground. Together these lands give RV travellers a mix of full-hookup private parks and rustic public sites within a short drive of Quincy.
Things to do near Quincy
Lake Talquin is the main draw. It is a designated Outstanding Florida Water and produces largemouth bass, striped bass, speckled perch, bream, and catfish. Boat ramps at Ingram's Marina LLC and public landings give quick access, and shoreline fishing works from park docks and boardwalks around the lake.
On land, Lake Talquin State Forest tracts offer hiking, wildlife viewing, and horseback trails, with High Bluff Landing providing a fishing pier and boat ramp on the north shore. Lake Talquin State Park adds a bluff-top boardwalk, picnic pavilion, and viewing of deer, turkey, bald eagles, and ospreys.
Day trips from a Quincy base include downtown Tallahassee, Florida Caverns State Park to the west for guided cave tours, and Gulf beaches at St. George Island roughly ninety minutes south.

63° / 46°F 60 mmMild days, cool nights; prime snowbird season
The prime RV window in the Quincy area runs from late fall through early spring. Highs are comfortable, humidity drops, and biting insects ease off. This is also the busiest stretch for snowbird travellers moving through north Florida, so weekends at private lakeside parks and state park campgrounds fill early.
Spring brings wildflowers, warming lake temperatures, and strong bass and crappie fishing. It is also an active severe weather stretch in the Panhandle, with thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes possible from March through May. Summer is hot and humid with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, and Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with the highest local risk from August into October.
Drought and burn bans occasionally affect state forest campgrounds, so campfire plans should be checked against the Florida Forest Service burn ban dashboard before arrival. Fall, especially late October and November, often delivers the driest and most stable weather of the year.
How to book a site
Private lakeside parks around Quincy, including Ingram's Marina LLC, Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge, and Ed & Bernice's Fish Camp, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Flat Creek Family Campground and RV Park and Florida Park Tallahassee follow the same direct-booking pattern typical of independent RV parks in the region.
Public sites use different systems. Florida State Parks facilities are reserved through the Florida State Parks reservation site. Lake Talquin State Forest campgrounds, including High Bluff, are booked through the Florida State Forests portal on ReserveAmerica, with a reservation window that opens up to eleven months in advance.
For peak winter and spring weekends, booking six to eight weeks ahead is a safe target, with popular waterfront sites often gone earlier.
What to expect on the ground
Private lakeside parks near Quincy tend to offer full-hookup RV sites, cabins, tent areas, boat ramps, and small camp stores with bait and tackle. Sites are generally grassy or gravel, with partial shade from pines and hardwoods, and cell coverage is usable but not always strong along the lake's south and west shores.
State forest campgrounds are primitive. High Bluff Campground in Lake Talquin State Forest has no electric or water hookups, only vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, so RV travellers need to arrive with full fresh water and empty tanks.
Wildlife encounters, including deer, turkey, alligators, and occasional black bears, are routine in the state forest tracts. Food should be stored inside the RV, mosquitoes and no-see-ums can be heavy near the water in warm months, and a Florida freshwater fishing license is required for anyone sixteen or older.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Quincy, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Quincy, FL?
Good news: RV rental in Quincy, FL is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Florida Panhandle. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes run $175 to $275, and luxury Class A coaches can reach $300+ nightly. Because Quincy sits just 25 minutes west of Tallahassee and off Interstate 10 (I-10), you'll find a healthy mix of price points. To save, target weekday pickups, book 6 to 8 weeks ahead, and use the price filter to sort listings. Pro tip: shoulder months like March and October often deliver the best cheap RV rental Quincy deals before the snowbird crowd peaks.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/northwest/What license do I need to rent an RV in Quincy, FL?
Here is the easy part: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Quincy, FL. Florida does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers, regardless of size. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25, and you confirm your identity directly through the platform during checkout, so there is no paperwork to mail or office to visit. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance included for trips from Quincy, FL?
Yes, every RV rental in Quincy booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on U.S. Route 90 or I-10 with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), so you can match coverage to your comfort. The plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip. Combined with roadside help if you get a flat near Lake Talquin or need a tow on I-10, you can focus on the trip instead of the what-ifs.

Booking with confidence is the whole point. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and there is a money-back grace period right after you book so you have breathing room to finalize plans. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far out your trip starts. If a host cancels, you receive a refund or travel credit. You can review the full policy on RVezy's Help Center before you confirm, and support is available any time your plans change.

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental Quincy options welcome your four-legged co-pilot. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are explicitly allowed. Quincy and the surrounding area are great for traveling pets: Lake Talquin State Forest has leash-friendly trails just 15 minutes south, and most Gadsden County parks allow leashed dogs. Many area campgrounds, including Tallahassee RV Park and High Bluff Campground at Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area, accept pets too. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any breed or size notes, and pack a collapsible water bowl for those warm Florida afternoons.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-florida-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Quincy?
Yes, RV delivery Quincy is one of the most popular add-ons, especially for first-timers and family groups. Many RVezy hosts in the Tallahassee-Quincy area will tow the RV to your campsite at places like Tallahassee East Campground, Three Rivers State Park, or even a private property in Gadsden County, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are typically based on distance, often $2 to $4 per mile. Look for listings with the Delivery filter active. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if you're flying into Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) just 30 minutes away and don't want to tow anything.
floridastateparks.org/How far can I drive on a Quincy RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You have real range from Quincy. Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with affordable per-mile overage rates, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer loops. From Quincy you're within easy reach of St. George Island (about 90 miles south), Panama City Beach (about 100 miles west), Destin (about 145 miles), and Wakulla Springs State Park (about 45 miles southeast). Each listing clearly shows its mileage policy on the booking page. Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-stop Florida Panhandle loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings up front to keep budgeting simple.
fdot.gov/Where are the best campgrounds near Quincy, FL?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Quincy include High Bluff Campground at Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area (rustic sites right on Lake Talquin, about 15 minutes south), Three Rivers State Park in nearby Sneads (full hookups overlooking Lake Seminole, about 45 minutes west), Florida Caverns RV Resort in Marianna (close to the famous cave tours, about 50 minutes west), Tallahassee RV Park (full-service, 25 minutes east), and Stay n Go RV Resort right off I-10. floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/three-rivers-state-parkWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Quincy, FL?
The sweet spot for a Quincy RV trip is mid-October through late April, when daytime highs sit in a comfortable 65 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity drops dramatically. Spring (March to May) brings azaleas and dogwoods in bloom across Gadsden County, while fall delivers cooler nights perfect for campfires. Summer (June to September) is hot and humid, with highs near 90 and frequent afternoon thunderstorms; it's doable with strong air conditioning, but mornings are the smart time to drive. Winters are mild, occasionally dipping to the 30s overnight. Pro tip: book a March trip to catch the Quincy Spring Festival downtown for a true small-town Florida moment.
weather.gov/tae/I'm first time renting an RV. Will I actually know what I'm doing?
Yes, and you're in good company. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, awning, and dump procedures so nothing feels mysterious. You can also message the host before booking with any questions, and many provide written cheat sheets or video walkthroughs. Quincy is a great launch point for first-timers because the roads are flat, traffic is light, and you can practice on quiet rural routes before hopping on I-10. Pro tip: start with a 2-night trip to nearby Lake Talquin so you can get comfortable with the systems before tackling a longer Florida Panhandle adventure.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/index.htmWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my Quincy trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if needed, whether you are parked at High Bluff Campground or rolling down U.S. Route 90. Your host is also a quick message away for questions about specific quirks of their RV, like how to relight the water heater. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV at pickup and save the roadside assistance number to your phone's favorites before you leave Quincy.

Crossing into Georgia is easy too, with Bainbridge only 35 miles north. Pro tip: cross-border trips into Georgia or Alabama are fine on RVezy, but Mexico travel is not permitted.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/northwest/What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan realistically and you'll stay on budget. Class C motorhomes around Quincy average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined), and Class B campervans can hit 18 to 22 MPG. Florida gas prices in the Panhandle typically run a bit below the national average, and there are plenty of large-vehicle-friendly stations along I-10 and U.S. 90, including Pilot and Love's near Midway and Tallahassee. Pro tip: fill up in Quincy or Midway before heading to coastal areas, where prices climb closer to the beach towns.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Quincy?
Earlier is better, especially for state parks. Florida State Parks (including Three Rivers and nearby Torreya) open reservations 11 months ahead through ReserveAmerica, and prime weekends from October through April can fill the morning they release. Private parks like Tallahassee RV Park and Stay n Go RV Resort usually have more flexibility and can often be booked 2 to 4 weeks out. For Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area's High Bluff Campground, reservations go through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) website. Pro tip: if you strike out on a state park, check cancellations daily at 8 a.m. Eastern, since that's when most refundable holds drop.
floridastateparks.org/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Quincy, FL?
Driving an RV around Quincy is refreshingly stress-free. The terrain is gently rolling, roads are wide, and traffic stays light outside Tallahassee rush hour. Interstate 10 runs just south of town with clearly marked exits and big-rig-friendly fuel stops, and U.S. Route 90 is a beautiful slower alternative through historic downtown Quincy. Watch for two location-specific things: afternoon summer thunderstorms (pull over and wait them out, they usually clear in 30 minutes), and the occasional named storm from June through November. Bridges along the Apalachicola River can also get gusty. Pro tip: avoid driving Tallahassee's Capital Circle between 4 and 6 p.m. on weekdays if you want a relaxed return.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsWhat amenities and dump stations can I expect at Quincy-area campgrounds?
Most full-service parks near Quincy offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer at the site, plus laundry, Wi-Fi, and a dump station for guests without sewer hookups. Three Rivers State Park has a dump station and potable water fill near the entrance, Tallahassee RV Park offers full hookups at every site, and Florida Caverns RV Resort includes a pool and clubhouse. State forest sites like High Bluff at Lake Talquin are more rustic, so plan to arrive with full fresh water and empty waste tanks. Pro tip: the Pilot Travel Center off I-10 at Exit 192 has a public dump station and potable water fill, which is handy on travel days.
floridastateparks.org/learn/campingWhat's actually inside an RVezy rental in Quincy?
You'll be comfortable. Most motorhome rental Quincy listings come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional sleeping for 4 to 8 people, a kitchen with fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink, plus a full bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning is standard (and essential in Florida summers), and many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator for off-grid power. Seatbelts are provided for all designated travel passengers. Wi-Fi is sometimes offered as an add-on, but Florida cell coverage is strong on most travel routes. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to match your group, and check the listing's photos for kitchen layout if you plan to cook real meals.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options are available with a campervan rental Quincy?
Quite a lot, actually. Common add-ons for a campervan rental Quincy or larger motorhome include linen and towel packages, camp chairs and tables, BBQ grills, bike racks, generators, kayaks, and kid-friendly kits with games and bedding. Many hosts also offer pre-stocked kitchen kits so you can cook on night one. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Quincy, Havana, Midway, or Tallahassee, and drop-off mirrors that location unless you arrange delivery. Mileage policies and fees are clearly listed on every booking page. Pro tip: bundling delivery plus a linen package often costs less than two separate add-ons, so ask the host for a combined quote when you message them.
visitflorida.com/How do payment and the security deposit work for a Quincy RV rental on RVezy?
It is straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy directly (no cash to the host), with a portion charged at booking and the balance before your trip starts. A separate refundable security deposit is also placed on your card a few days before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value, and it is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. To avoid any hiccups, do a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off, return the RV with the agreed fuel level, and follow the mileage allowance. Pro tip: keep the dump-station receipt if your host requires the tanks be emptied before return.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV in Quincy, FL, overnight if I'm not at a campground?
You have practical options. The Walmart Supercenter in nearby Midway (about 10 minutes from downtown Quincy) generally permits overnight RV parking with a quick courtesy call to the manager, and several Cracker Barrel locations along I-10 also welcome short overnight stops. For longer stays, family RV trip Quincy regulars love Tallahassee RV Park, Stay n Go RV Resort, and High Bluff Campground at Lake Talquin. Street parking and city lots in downtown Quincy are not designed for overnight RV stays, so plan to roll into a proper site by evening. Pro tip: always call ahead, since policies on where to park an RV in Quincy can shift seasonally, especially during football weekends in Tallahassee.
