Campgrounds and RV parks near Abbeville, GA

Abbeville sits in Wilcox County along the Ocmulgee River in south-central Georgia, roughly midway between Macon and Valdosta and within an easy drive of Interstate 75. The area is rural and agricultural, with pine forest, peanut and pecan farms, and slow blackwater rivers shaping the landscape. RV travelers use it as a quiet stopover on the north-south corridor or as a base for the Ocmulgee River, Lake Blackshear, and the surrounding state parks. Closer-in options include Hillside Family RV Park and Georgia Peanut RV Park, both suited to overnight and extended stays with full hookups. Southern Gates RV Park and Campground offers additional pull-through access for larger rigs. Cordele KOA Journey sits west near I-75 for travelers routing through Cordele. The standout public land nearby is Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge, a 1,360-acre Georgia state park north of McRae-Helena on the Little Ocmulgee River, initially built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. It pairs a full-hookup campground with a lake, lodge, and championship golf course.

For Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge, reservations go through the Georgia State Parks system. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance, and Georgia residents may make reservations up to 14 months in advance. A 50% deposit is required to confirm a reservation in advance, with the remaining balance due at check-in, and reservations booked 14 days or fewer in advance require full payment at time of booking. Private parks including Hillside Family RV Park, Georgia Peanut RV Park, Southern Gates RV Park and Campground, and Cordele KOA Journey take direct bookings by phone or through their own websites. Book well ahead during peak travel seasons, when full-hookup sites fill quickly with interstate travelers. Holiday weekends and spring break book earliest; for state park stays over major holidays, reserve as far ahead as the system allows.
