Campgrounds and RV parks near Unionville, GA

Most outdoor activity in the area centers on Reed Bingham State Park. Its 375-acre lake is popular with boaters and skiers, and fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, and bream is a main draw. Roughly seven miles of walking and biking trails run through the park's varied ecosystems, from baldcypress swamp to sandhills and a pitcher plant bog. Paddlers can rent canoes and kayaks to explore the lake, which is lined with water lilies and tupelo trees, and wildlife sightings often include gopher tortoises, bald eagles, and alligators. In Tifton itself, families visit the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village, a living-history site with restored 19th-century buildings. Wanee Lake Golf Course and RV Park pairs camping with an on-site course for travelers who want to play a round without moving the rig.

South Georgia has a long camping season. Around Tifton, summers are long, hot, and muggy, winters are short and cool, and the region stays partly cloudy and reasonably wet year round. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild days, cooler nights, and lower humidity than the summer peak. Summer brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms and heavier rainfall. Heat and biting insects are the trade-off, so shaded sites and full hookups with strong air conditioning matter most from June through August. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk in late summer and early fall, and remnants of Gulf and Atlantic storms occasionally track through the region. Winter is the busy snowbird stretch along I-75. RV parks near Tifton fill with long-term guests heading to or from Florida, so monthly sites can be scarce from January through March. Reed Bingham State Park was impacted by Hurricane Helene; the park is open with restoration in progress, most trails have reopened as debris has been cleared, and damaged boardwalk sections remain closed while repairs continue.

Terrain around Unionville is flat and easy to navigate with any size rig, and most nearby parks are big-rig friendly. Tifton KOA Journey is open year-round with about 90 sites, accepts RVs up to 90 feet, and includes roughly 58 pull-throughs and 84 full hookups with 30/50-amp service, plus a dump station, laundry, propane, cable TV, pool, and playground. At Reed Bingham, expect a state-park layout rather than a resort. The campground has 46 tent, trailer, and RV sites across two loops, with Loop 1 upgraded to include sewer hookups, 50/30/20-amp electrical service, new water connections, fire rings, picnic tables, and gravel pads. Bugs are a real factor: gnats and mosquitoes are common from spring through fall, so pack repellent and screens. Cell coverage along I-75 is strong; expect a weaker signal in the more rural pockets around lakes and farmland.
