Campgrounds near New Plymouth
New Plymouth sits in Payette County in southwestern Idaho, on a fertile bench along the lower Payette River about an hour northwest of Boise. It is the only town in the United States platted in a double horseshoe shape, and its surrounding farmland, river corridors, and high-desert canyons put a broad range of RV camping within easy reach.
In town and immediately outside it, Neat Retreat RV Park and River Point RV Park offer full-hookup sites suited to travelers passing through on U.S. 30 or Interstate 84. Country Corners RV Park And Campground provides pull-thru sites that make arrivals and departures straightforward for larger rigs and families with tow vehicles. About ten miles west across the Snake River in Ontario, Oregon, the Malheur County Fairgrounds adds hookup and dry camping that is useful when local parks fill during peak weekends.
For a longer-stay resort feel closer to Caldwell and the Boise metro, Canyon Springs RV Resort offers paved, full-hookup sites in an open rural setting. Together, these options cover quick overnights, week-long river trips, and extended stays.
Things to do near New Plymouth
The Payette River Wildlife Management Area lies just outside town and protects roughly 1,200 acres of riparian habitat along the lower Payette. Waterfowl, upland birds, and deer are common, and warm-water fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and rainbow trout is popular on the WMA ponds and river. Public access is by foot only, and sections close from February 1 to July 31 to protect nesting waterfowl.
The Payette River itself carries whitewater ranging from Class I riffles on the Main Payette to expert Class V runs on the North Fork, with dam-controlled flows that often extend the boating season into fall. Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell add museums, wineries, and Lake Lowell within an easy day trip.

New Plymouth has hot, dry summers and short, cold winters. July is the warmest and driest month, with average highs in the low nineties Fahrenheit and very little rain. This is peak RV season across the Treasure Valley, and full-hookup parks such as Canyon Springs RV Resort and Country Corners RV Park And Campground fill quickly on weekends. Book several weeks out for July and August, and expect strong sun and fire-restriction advisories in surrounding BLM and Forest Service lands.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable travel windows. Late fall and early winter tend to be the wettest months, and portions of the Payette River WMA are closed to public access from February 1 through July 31 for waterfowl nesting. Fall brings cooler nights, controlled turkey and mourning dove seasons on the WMA, and lighter campground traffic.
Winters are cold but generally passable at low elevation. Many private RV parks in the area stay open year-round for long-term and snowbird stays, while higher-elevation Forest Service sites in the upper Payette drainage close under snow.

Would rent from Greg again and would refer any friend. The RV was clean, communication was great, and the walk-through was thorough upon pick up.

Greg gave a thorough tour of the RV and made sure I understood how the RV operated before my trip. The 4 of us had a great time!

Christopher was a great host! The RV was exactly what we needed and allowed us to spend some wonderful family time together. Highly recommend the experience.
Kelly F. - Jul 2026
Chris went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. Our vehicle broke down and unfortunately we weren’t able to enjoy the weekend camping. Chris rearranged his day and was very accommodating and picked up the trailer, towed it back to our house to unload.

How to book
Private RV parks around New Plymouth, including Neat Retreat RV Park, River Point RV Park, Country Corners RV Park And Campground, and Canyon Springs RV Resort, take reservations directly by phone or through their websites and third-party platforms. Canyon Springs also offers monthly and long-term stays that generally require an application in advance.
The Malheur County Fairgrounds handles hookup and dry camping on a self-pay basis through the fairgrounds office and may restrict availability during fair week and other events. Public lands nearby operate differently: Idaho Fish and Game manages the Payette River WMA for day use and hunting rather than camping, and BLM and Forest Service campgrounds along the Payette River corridor are reservable through Recreation.gov for the sites that accept bookings.
What to expect
Terrain around New Plymouth is flat to gently rolling farmland with irrigation canals, orchards, and cottonwood-lined river bottoms. Most in-town RV sites are level gravel or paved pads with 30- and 50-amp service, full hookups, and easy access for larger rigs. Canyon Springs RV Resort is a paved, full-hookup park with laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi.
Cell coverage is generally good along the U.S. 30 and I-84 corridors and thins out quickly in the canyons upriver. Summer days are hot and dry, so plan shaded midday breaks and carry extra water for pets and children. Wildlife viewing is close and casual: expect Canada geese, herons, bald eagles, and deer along the Payette, with sandhill cranes passing through in spring.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Plymouth%2C%20IdahoWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in New Plymouth?
You're in luck: a regular Idaho driver's license (or any valid US or Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in New Plymouth. Idaho does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special RV endorsement for recreational motorhomes or trailers, even big Class A rigs. The only requirement on RVezy is that the primary driver is 25 or older and verifies their ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before you fly in. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is to get rolling.
itd.idaho.gov/itddmv/What protection comes with my RV rental in New Plymouth?
Every RV rental in New Plymouth booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 30 with confidence. The protection plan covers accidental damage to the vehicle while you are on your trip. During checkout, you choose your coverage level based on how much peace of mind you want, with higher tiers offering lower deductibles and broader coverage. This is purpose-built protection designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV trips. Families heading to Lake Cascade or Hells Canyon often pick the higher tier for extra confidence on longer routes.

Booking is low risk. RVezy uses a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy on every reservation, including a grace period right after booking so you can lock in dates with confidence. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in New Plymouth is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when searching and you will see every motorhome and trailer that welcomes four-legged co-pilots. Many hosts in Payette County are dog owners themselves. Once you are on the road, dogs love the Weiser River Trail (an 85-mile rail-trail that starts in nearby Weiser), the trails around Lake Lowell at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, and most US Forest Service campgrounds in the Payette National Forest. Message the host before booking if you have multiple pets or a large breed so everyone starts the trip aligned.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Plymouth%2C%20Idaho&Features=PetFriendlyCan the RV be delivered to me in New Plymouth?
Yes, RV delivery in New Plymouth is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first timers. Many hosts in the Treasure Valley will drop the RV at your campsite, vacation rental, or driveway, level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system before they leave. Common delivery destinations include Lake Cascade State Park (about 90 minutes north), Lake Lowell, and Black Canyon Reservoir near Emmett. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so a nearby drop-off can be very reasonable. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to instantly see hosts who offer this perk.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Plymouth%2C%20Idaho&Delivery=trueHow far can I drive my RV rental from New Plymouth?
You have serious range from New Plymouth. Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for road-trippers. From New Plymouth you can reach Boise in about 45 minutes, McCall and Payette Lake in roughly 2 hours, Hells Canyon overlooks in about 2.5 to 3 hours, Sun Valley in around 3.5 hours, and Yellowstone's west entrance in about 7 to 8 hours. If you are planning a big loop, message the host before booking to discuss mileage add-ons. They are usually happy to tailor a package to your route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Plymouth%2C%20IdahoWhere are the best campgrounds near New Plymouth, ID?
You're spoiled for choice. Within an hour of New Plymouth you'll find Lake Lowell (Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge) for day use and nearby private campgrounds, Black Canyon Reservoir near Emmett with shoreline RV sites, and Givens Hot Springs south of Marsing for a soak after a long drive. About 90 minutes north sits Lake Cascade State Park, a Treasure Valley favorite for full-hookup lakefront sites. Heading west, Farewell Bend State Park sits right on the Snake River along the historic Oregon Trail. Reserve Idaho State Parks through the official portal up to 9 months in advance, especially for summer weekends, when waterfront RV camping in New Plymouth's region books up fast.
parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/park-activity/camping/When is the best time of year for an RV trip in New Plymouth?
The sweet spot for a New Plymouth RV trip is late April through mid-October, with two distinct seasons to choose from. Spring (April to early June) brings blooming orchards, highs in the 60s to 70s°F, and quiet campgrounds. Summer (late June to August) is hot and dry with highs near 90 to 93°F, perfect for Snake River floats and Lake Cascade swims, though you'll want hookups for the AC. Fall (September to mid-October) is the local insider pick: warm days, cool nights, fewer bugs, and harvest season at nearby Sunnyslope wineries. Winters dip into the 20s with occasional snow, so most renters stick to the milder months.
weather.gov/boi/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in New Plymouth?
Yes, and New Plymouth is actually a great place for first time renting an RV. The town sits in the flat, open Payette River Valley with quiet country roads, wide farm-road shoulders, and easy access to US-95 and I-84 for practice driving before you hit bigger routes. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, water, slide-outs, and dump procedures, and you can call or text them throughout your trip with questions. Many renters also start with a Class C motorhome rental in New Plymouth, since they drive much like a large van. Pro tip: do your first loop around Lake Lowell or to Emmett to build confidence.
itd.idaho.gov/highwayinfo/What happens if something goes wrong with the RV on the road?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you have a flat outside Weiser, a dead battery at Black Canyon Reservoir, or a propane issue at Lake Cascade, help is one phone call away. Your host is also a direct lifeline by phone or in-app message, and most New Plymouth area hosts respond quickly during your trip. For mechanical or system questions, RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside assistance number to your phone and snap a photo of the RV's tire size and key info during your pickup walkthrough.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my RV rental from New Plymouth into Oregon or other states?
Yes, interstate trips are welcome and popular for an RV road trip from New Plymouth. The Oregon border sits just 15 minutes west, so quick hops to Ontario, Vale, or the Owyhee Reservoir make easy day trips. Many guests do longer loops through Oregon's Wallowa Mountains, down to Boise, north to Coeur d'Alene, or out to Yellowstone via eastern Idaho. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage do not extend there. Cross-border travel between the US and Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection plan, so message the host directly from the listing if a cross-border trip is on your radar.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a New Plymouth RV trip?
Fuel is easier on the wallet than you'd think. Idaho gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, and New Plymouth has multiple stations right on Highway 30. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 12 to 16 MPG for a campervan rental in New Plymouth, and 14 to 20 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. For a 4-night trip with 400 total miles, budget around $150 to $250 in fuel for most mid-size rigs. Pro tip: fill up in New Plymouth or Payette before heading into the mountains around McCall, where prices climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near New Plymouth?
Book early and you'll have your pick. Idaho State Parks (including Lake Cascade and Farewell Bend) open reservations up to 9 months ahead through the official Idaho State Parks reservation portal, and summer weekends at lakefront sites genuinely sell out months in advance. US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campgrounds in the Payette National Forest book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Private RV parks around Payette, Emmett, and Weiser are more relaxed and often have last-minute openings, especially midweek. Pro tip: if a state park shows full, set a Campnab alert. Cancellations pop up constantly within two weeks of a stay.
parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/park-activity/camping/What are the driving conditions like around New Plymouth?
Driving around New Plymouth is refreshingly mellow. The town sits in flat farmland along Highway 30 with wide lanes, light traffic, and easy connections to I-84 (10 minutes south) and US-95 (just west). Summer roads are dry and clear, but watch for irrigation equipment crossing rural routes and afternoon crosswinds out by the Snake River. Heading north toward McCall, Highway 55 becomes winding mountain road with steep grades around Banks and Smiths Ferry. Take it slow in an RV. Winter can bring black ice and snow at higher elevations, so check Idaho 511 before any November-to-March mountain trip. For city worries, you're 45 easy minutes from Boise.
511.idaho.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near New Plymouth?
You'll find a great mix. Most full-service RV parks around New Plymouth (think Country Corners, Simpson RV Park in Payette, and Emmett Valley RV Park) offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups, free Wi-Fi, and on-site dump stations. Idaho State Parks like Lake Cascade provide paved pads with water and electric, modern restrooms, and showers, plus centralized dump stations. US Forest Service sites in the Payette National Forest tend to be more rustic: vault toilets, potable water spigots, and no hookups, perfect for self-contained rigs. To fill fresh water and dump tanks for free or cheap, the city of Payette and several local truck stops along I-84 have public dump stations.
parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/park-activity/camping/What's included inside the RVs available in New Plymouth?
Plenty of comfort for your Idaho adventure. RVs available for rent in New Plymouth typically come fully equipped with sleeping for 2 to 8 people, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with both AC and furnace, and a dinette that converts to extra sleeping space. Most Class A and Class C motorhome rentals in New Plymouth include a generator for off-grid power, a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outside awning. Many hosts also include linens, kitchenware, and camp chairs. Wi-Fi hotspots and solar panels show up on newer rigs. Check the listing's amenity list, and message the host if a specific item is a must-have.
rvezy.com/What add-ons and pickup options do hosts in New Plymouth offer?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons for RV rental in Idaho include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, generators (often included on motorhomes), bikes, kayaks, fire pits, BBQs, and outdoor patio mats. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near New Plymouth, Payette, or Fruitland, with a 45 to 60 minute orientation. Drop-off times are typically flexible by a couple of hours. Mileage policies vary by host: some include 100 miles per day with $0.30 to $0.50 per extra mile, while others offer unlimited mileage packages. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking time, it's usually cheaper than asking later.
rvezy.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book an RV in New Plymouth on RVezy, your payment is processed through the platform (no cash or e-transfers to hosts), and you typically pay a deposit at booking with the balance due before pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately before your trip (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after drop-off, provided the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and drop-off, return with a clean rig and empty tanks unless your host says otherwise, and stay within your mileage allowance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great first RV road trip itinerary from New Plymouth?
Here's a local insider favorite: a 4-night loop perfect for a family RV trip in New Plymouth. Day 1, pick up your rig and head 90 minutes north to Lake Cascade State Park for two nights of lakefront camping, paddleboarding, and Payette Lake day trips into McCall. Day 3, drive west to Farewell Bend State Park on the Snake River, where pioneers left the Oregon Trail. Day 4, swing through Hells Canyon (the deepest river gorge in North America) before returning via Weiser and the 85-mile Weiser River Trail. Total mileage runs around 350 to 400 miles, well within most hosts' mileage allowances. Book Lake Cascade early. It's the crown jewel.
