Campgrounds and RV parks near Bradford, IL

Bradford sits in rural Stark County in north-central Illinois, roughly halfway between the Quad Cities and Peoria and just south of Interstate 80. The area is farmland and gently rolling glacial terrain, with the Hennepin Canal Parkway to the north and the Illinois River valley to the east. RV travelers use Bradford as a quiet base for exploring both corridors without the traffic of larger metros. Campground options within roughly a half-hour drive range from full-hookup private parks to primitive state-managed sites. Hickory Grove Campground AND RV Park near Sheffield offers 30/50-amp full hookups and pull-through sites that accommodate rigs up to 80 feet, making it a practical stop for larger motorhomes. Condit's Ranch near Putnam is a family-owned campground spanning 150 acres, with full hookups, primitive sites, four stocked fishing lakes, and a sandy swim beach. For a more rustic trip, Lock 6 and Lock 22 on the Hennepin Canal State Trail provide primitive canal-side camping, and Johnson-Sauk Trail State Recreational Area adds electric and walk-in tent sites beside a 58-acre lake.

Illinois state park sites, including Johnson-Sauk Trail State Recreational Area, are reserved online through the ExploreMoreIL platform. The booking window is six months in advance, reservations must be made at least three days before arrival, and sites can be held for a maximum of 14 nights within a 30-day period. A non-refundable reservation fee plus the full camping and utility fees are collected at booking, and Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends require a two-night minimum. The Hennepin Canal State Trail is different: Lock 6 and Lock 22 are Class C primitive sites that are not in the reservation system and operate first-come, first-served. A site security officer collects fees in person. Hickory Grove Campground AND RV Park takes reservations through its own website, and Condit's Ranch books through Campspot.
