Campgrounds and RV parks near Brookport, IL

Brookport sits on the north bank of the Ohio River in Massac County, directly across from Paducah, Kentucky. The area gives RV travelers easy access to river-facing campgrounds on both sides of the Ohio, plus the northern edge of the Land Between the Lakes region a short drive east. Interstate 24 runs just north of town, so rigs coming from Nashville, St. Louis, or Chicago reach the area without navigating tight rural routes. Fort Massac State Park in nearby Metropolis is the closest full-service public campground, with 50 Class A electric sites, a disposal station, a shower building, and separate tent and group camping. Private RV parks fill in the rest of the local supply. Fern Lake Campground and Duck Creek RV Park serve travelers on the Illinois side, while Birdsville Riverside RV Park and Birdsville RV and Campground sit across the river in the Smithland, Kentucky area with Ohio River frontage. Most RVers use Brookport as a base for river fishing, historic-site visits in Metropolis and Paducah, and day trips into the Shawnee National Forest to the north.

Camping reservations at Fort Massac State Park are made through ExploreMoreIL. Reservations are required during peak season; in the off-season the 50 Class A electric sites revert to first-come, first-served. Sites are back-in only, and the maximum RV length that can be accommodated is 65 feet, though shorter loops fill first. Private parks near Brookport, including Fern Lake Campground, Duck Creek RV Park, Birdsville Riverside RV Park, and Birdsville RV and Campground, book directly by phone or through each operator's website. Riverfront sites at the Birdsville parks are limited and go early for holiday weekends and the fall foliage window. Cancellation policies vary by park, so read the terms before paying.
