Campgrounds and RV parks near Pleasant View, TN

Water recreation drives most trips. Cheatham Lake supports boating, fishing, swimming, and paddling, and the Corps of Engineers day-use areas around Cheatham Dam include a swim beach, boat ramps, and picnic shelters. Cheatham Dam Right Bank Area also has a swim area and sandy beach, volleyball courts, and a softball field. On foot, the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail is a rails-to-trails project, which runs 6.5 miles long and crosses Sycamore Creek on a historic abandoned railroad trestle, making it a straightforward option for families with bikes. The Cheatham Lake Wildlife Management Area adds hiking and birding. For a day off the water, downtown Nashville is roughly 25 miles southeast: the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Broadway honky-tonks, and the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere are all within an easy drive from any of the campgrounds listed above.

The camping season in Middle Tennessee is long. Private parks near Pleasant View, including Spring Creek Campground, Owls Roost Campground, Grand Ole RV Resort and Market, and Trinity RV Park and Campground, generally operate year-round, while the Corps of Engineers Lock A campground is normally open from the beginning of April to the end of October. Harpeth River Bridge Campground on the Harpeth River follows a similar seasonal window. Spring brings the wettest weather of the year and unpredictable severe-thunderstorm risk, with May typically among the wettest months. Summer is hot and humid, and about half of summer days at Nashville have highs in the 90s Fahrenheit, though it is unusual for the thermometer to go above that, so shaded sites and 50-amp service become important for running air conditioning. Weekend availability at Corps and state park sites tightens through this window. Fall is the shoulder favorite: cooler nights, fewer bugs, and hardwood color through October and early November. Winter is quieter and workable in a heated RV, though occasional ice storms can affect back roads into the campgrounds.

Corps of Engineers sites around Cheatham Lake lean toward larger, level, paved pads with electric and water. Both RV and tent sites have 50 amp electric hookups. Additional amenities include hot showers, a dump station, boat launch, playground, picnic shelter and swimming area. Sewer at the site is uncommon; plan to use the dump station on the way out. Private parks closer to Nashville offer full hookups, longer pull-throughs, and Wi-Fi, but sites can sit closer together and some are near railroad tracks or the interstate. Light sleepers may want to request a site farther from the tracks when booking at the Nashville-side parks. Approach roads to lakefront campgrounds are often narrow and winding. The road coming into Lock A is a little steep, so give yourself daylight for the last few miles in a rental RV.
