Campgrounds and RV parks near Martinsville, IL

Lincoln Trail Lake is the local draw, a 146-acre lake that supports fishing, boating, hiking, and picnicking. Outboard motors are capped at 10 horsepower. A launching ramp, boat trailer parking, and a full-service concession stand are on site, and boat and seasonal dock rentals are available. Anglers target largemouth bass, bluegill, redear, crappie, and channel catfish, and the park is known for oversized panfish. Off the water, the town of Casey is a family favorite for its collection of Guinness-recognized oversized roadside attractions, including several certified world's-largest items along with shops, eateries, and bakeries. Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site, a living history farm once owned by Abraham Lincoln's father and stepmother, lies a longer drive west near Charleston.

The core RV season in this part of Illinois runs from spring through fall. Lincoln Trail State Park is open year-round, but shower buildings close by November 1 and reopen May 1, with earlier closures possible in bad weather. Amenities at both campgrounds include electricity, water, restrooms, showers, playground equipment, and a sanitary dump station. Outside the shower-house window, sites remain usable for self-contained rigs, though water systems and the concession stand are typically shut down for freeze protection. Summer is peak season. Weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day fill fastest, and school-break weeks see steady demand from Illinois and Indiana families. Casey KOA operates seasonally from early March through late October, so plan accordingly for shoulder-season stops. Spring and fall bring cooler temperatures, thinner crowds, and better fishing. Winter camping is possible for self-contained rigs, but expect closed bathhouses and limited services.

Sites at Lincoln Trail State Park are generally level, with electric hookups at every Class A site, plus a table and fire ring. Mature hardwoods provide shade at most sites, though some low spots can hold water after heavy rain, so site selection matters. Reviewers generally prefer Plainview for its slightly larger sites and drier ground, while Lakeside sits closer to the water with easier lake access. Casey KOA offers pull-through RV sites with easy big-rig access straight off I-70, along with a seasonal pool, playground, and dump station. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the I-70 corridor. Grocery, fuel, and propane are available in Casey, Marshall, and Martinsville, so restocking mid-trip is straightforward.
