Campgrounds and RV parks near Patoka, IL

Patoka is a small village in Marion County, south-central Illinois, roughly midway between Effingham and the Carlyle Lake area. The location suits RV travelers moving along the I-57 and I-70 corridors and those planning a stopover between St. Louis and Indianapolis. Terrain is flat farmland cut by creeks and small woodlots, so most campgrounds sit on private land, near reservoirs, or inside state recreation areas within a short drive. RV renters have two practical options in this area. Compact private parks such as UcamP Express RV Park and Timber Trails Campground are geared toward overnight and short-stay travelers and typically offer full or partial hookups on level pads. Cedarbrook Campground and Okaw Valley Campground lean more toward multi-night family stays with recreational amenities on site. For a larger destination trip, Eldon Hazlet State Recreational Area on Carlyle Lake is the anchor public campground within about an hour's drive, and it draws the heaviest demand across the region.

Reservations for Illinois state recreation areas, including Eldon Hazlet, are handled through the state's ExploreMoreIL online system. Eldon Hazlet's Illini Campground has 328 Class A electric sites plus Class C walk-in tent sites, with a reservable section and a large first-come, first-served section that often has availability even on busy weekends. Private parks in the Patoka area, including UcamP Express RV Park, Cedarbrook Campground, Okaw Valley Campground, and Timber Trails Campground, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For summer weekends and any holiday, book several weeks ahead. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup amperage, and pet policies at the time of booking.
