Campgrounds and RV parks near Pistakee Highlands, IL

Pistakee Highlands sits on the northern edge of McHenry County, Illinois, along Pistakee Bay at the top of the Chain O' Lakes waterway. The area is one of the largest concentrations of natural lakes in Illinois and is a well-established weekend destination for boaters, anglers, and RV travelers coming from the Chicago metro. Most overnight RV options cluster within a short drive of the bay. Turner Lake South at Chain O' Lakes State Park is the closest state-managed campground, and additional public loops (Prairie View, Mud Lake East, Fox Den, and Honeysuckle Hollow) sit inside the same park. Private options nearby include Grass Lake Marina and RV Park in Antioch, Fox River Recreation off Route 173, and Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort in Volo. Just across the Wisconsin state line, the Kenosha County Fair Association grounds add another option and are typically busiest around fair week. Together these give travelers a mix of primitive state-park loops, full-hookup private resorts, and marina-adjacent sites within roughly a 30-minute radius of Pistakee Highlands.

Illinois state park sites, including Turner Lake South, Prairie View, Mud Lake East, and Honeysuckle Hollow, are reserved through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources booking system at ExploreMoreIL, or by calling 866-716-6550.
