Campgrounds near Silvis, Illinois
Silvis sits in the Illinois Quad Cities, on the north bank of the Rock River near its confluence with the Mississippi. The area is flat, riverine, and heavily oriented toward water recreation, which shapes most of the local campground options. Nearly every developed campground within a short drive is river-adjacent, with boat ramps, fishing access, and paddle rentals as standard features.
The closest RV-friendly options cluster along the Rock River just east of town. Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals sits at 21119 Barstow Road in East Moline, directly on the Rock River, and Lundeen's Rock River Landing operates on the same stretch of river. Camp Hauberg occupies a wooded 40-acre parcel on the banks of the Mississippi River, two miles north of Port Byron, and works for both primitive and RV camping.
For larger resort-style stays, Sun Retreats Rock River in Hillsdale sits on roughly 180 acres with five lakes, about 20 minutes from the Quad Cities, and the Rock Island / Quad Cities KOA Holiday provides a full-service KOA option on the Iowa-facing side of the metro.
Things to do near Silvis
Water is the main draw. Rock River campgrounds provide access to tubing, kayaking, and fishing, and Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals runs 4 and 8 mile tube trips with kayak and canoe rentals on site. The Mississippi backwaters near Camp Hauberg are used for fishing, boating, and paddling, with a boat ramp on the property.
On land, Niabi Zoo in nearby Coal Valley offers animal exhibits and educational programs, and Black Hawk State Historic Site in Rock Island features trails and exhibits related to the Sauk and Meskwaki peoples. TPC Deere Run in Silvis hosts the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic, and the Great River Road corridor along Highway 84 offers a scenic drive with river overlooks.
Families traveling with kids typically pair a river campground with a day at the zoo, the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island, or a Mississippi riverboat cruise from the downtown Quad Cities waterfront.

The camping season in this stretch of Illinois runs roughly from mid-April through late October. Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals opens in spring and runs through Halloween, and Sun Retreats Rock River follows a similar warm-season pattern. Camp Hauberg and the Rock Island / Quad Cities KOA Holiday generally align with the same window, though the KOA can extend shoulder-season stays depending on weather.
Summer is peak. June through August brings warm, humid days, strong demand for waterfront sites, and the busiest activity calendar. Weekends in July and around holidays book out early, and pull-through sites at the larger parks are the first to go. Spring is cooler and wetter, with river levels often running high after snowmelt and heavy rain, which occasionally affects low-lying riverside sites.
Early fall is the sweet spot for RV travelers who want mild days, thinner crowds, and fall color along the Mississippi bluffs. Winter camping is limited: most private parks close, water service is shut off, and only a few sites remain accessible for self-contained rigs.
How to book a campground near Silvis
Most private campgrounds in the area take reservations directly through their own websites or through third-party platforms. Sun Retreats Rock River books through the Sun Outdoors site, Campspot, or by phone, and the Rock Island / Quad Cities KOA Holiday uses the KOA reservation system. Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals takes reservations directly by phone and through its own site. Camp Hauberg requires reservations and takes them by phone.
For summer weekends, book waterfront and pull-through sites four to eight weeks out. Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill earliest.
Illinois state park campgrounds within driving range are reserved through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources reservation system. Iowa state parks across the river use the Iowa DNR system. Rules on rig length, pets, and generator hours vary by park, so confirm at time of booking.
What to expect
Sites near Silvis are generally flat, grassy or gravel, and shaded to varying degrees. Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals offers 30 and 50 amp electric with pull-through sites, a dump station, boat docks, and canoe, kayak, and tube rentals. Camp Hauberg provides 30 amp electric and water hookups, a modern shower house, and shaded riverside sites. Sun Retreats Rock River offers concrete pads, full hookups, a large outdoor pool, and mini golf.
Access to Rock River sites can be tight for big rigs. One route into Lundeen's Landing includes a bridge with a 12-foot clearance, so drivers of taller rigs should confirm approach directions before arrival.
Expect biting insects in summer, especially near backwater areas, and pack rain gear from spring through early summer. Cell coverage is generally strong across the Quad Cities metro but can drop in more rural riverside pockets.

greatriverroad-illinois.org/What kind of fuel mileage should I expect and how do I budget for gas?
Fuel is one of your biggest trip costs, so it pays to plan. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, Class A rigs run 7 to 10 MPG, and trucks towing travel trailers land around 9 to 12 MPG. Gas prices in the Quad Cities typically run a bit below the national average, often around $3.10 to $3.50 per gallon, with stations clustered along I-80, I-74, and U.S. 6. eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Silvis?
For the best campgrounds near Silvis, plan to book 2 to 4 months out for summer weekends, especially holiday weekends and John Deere Classic week in early July. Fishermans Corner and other U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites along the Mississippi are reserved through Recreation.gov and open a 6-month rolling window. Illinois state park sites like those at Loud Thunder are booked through ExploreMoreIL.com (the official Illinois DNR reservation system). Private parks like Camelot Campground Quad Cities USA take direct reservations and tend to have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) are often wide open even in peak season, a great way to score riverfront sites without the rush.

I-80 and I-74 form the main corridors and both handle large rigs comfortably, while U.S. Route 6 runs right through Silvis with low-stress access to campgrounds. Watch for spring and summer thunderstorms (the National Weather Service Quad Cities office issues frequent alerts), and stay alert during winter for snow and ice from December through February. Bridges crossing the Mississippi into Iowa, like the I-74 bridge, are wide and modern. Pro tip: avoid rush hour on the I-74 bridge between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. for a smoother crossing into Davenport.

Drop-off is typically by a set time on your last day at the same location, with the rig cleaned and tanks emptied (or pay a dump fee to skip the dump station). Message the host before booking to confirm everything.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Silvis%2C%20Illinois&Delivery=trueHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit card at booking, never directly to the host. Your total includes the nightly rate, any add-ons you select, a service fee, and your chosen protection plan. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after the trip once the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape. To avoid issues, take timestamped photos at pickup and drop-off, return the RV on time with the agreed-upon fuel level and tank status, and follow any host-specific rules listed on the booking.
