Campgrounds and RV parks near Flora, IN

Prophetstown State Park anchors the outdoor side of a trip. The park offers hiking and biking trails through prairies and wetlands, with paved multi-use paths suitable for a range of skill levels. The Aquatic Center features a 30-foot tube slide, body flume, lazy river float area, adventure channel, zero-entry pool with play features, and an aquatic activity area with basketball. History is a short drive away. The Tippecanoe Battlefield and Museum sits just outside Battle Ground, and living history programs are conducted at The Farm at Prophetstown, where visitors can learn about 1920s farm life. For kid-focused days, the Indiana Beach / Monticello KOA Holiday sits at Lake Shafer, next to the Indiana Beach boardwalk and amusement park. Rides, water slides, arcade games, and lakefront activities keep families busy for a full weekend.

Late spring through early fall is the practical RV window in this part of Indiana. Warm months from May into October are when Prophetstown's Aquatic Center and Indiana Beach amusement park are fully operational, and summer weekends draw the heaviest traffic. Full-hookup sites at the state park tend to book out weeks ahead for holiday weekends. Shoulder seasons trade crowds for cooler weather and fewer amenities. Camping at Prophetstown runs seasonally from May 1 through October 31, with the campground closed in November even though the park stays open year-round for day use. Private parks in the area typically follow a similar seasonal pattern, with some scaling back hookups or closing entirely once temperatures drop. Winter camping options near Flora are limited. Snow, cold, and reduced services mean most private parks scale back or close, so RVers should confirm hookup availability before booking. Spring can bring wet ground and river-level fluctuations along the Wabash and Tippecanoe corridors, so checking park updates before departure is worthwhile.

Prophetstown offers a modern, RV-friendly campground on open prairie. Several picnic areas, shelter houses, playgrounds and a 110 site modern campground, all of which are ADA accessible, can be found within the park. There are 110 campsites in total, 55 with full hookups and 55 with electric-only service, plus an accessible dump station. Sites are paved with a picnic table and fire ring, and can accommodate larger rigs. The KOA at Indiana Beach is a resort-style setting on Lake Shafer with a pool, boat access, and shuttle service to the amusement park. Expect a busier, more social atmosphere than at the state park. Smaller private parks near Flora lean rural and quiet, with basic hookups and gravel or grass sites.
