Campgrounds near Geneva, Indiana
Geneva sits in Adams County in east-central Indiana, near the Wabash River and not far from the Ohio state line. The area is rural and flat, with farmland, small towns, and pockets of hardwood forest. RV travelers typically use Geneva as a base for state park camping, Amish-country day trips, and quiet lake stays without the crowds of Indiana's larger destinations.
The closest full-service public option is Ouabache State Park, just north near Bluffton, which offers electric sites that accommodate travel trailers and larger motorhomes. Private parks fill out the region, including Fox Lake Campground, Bluffton / Fort Wayne South KOA Journey, Timberwoods RV Park, and Wildwood Outdoor Escape.
Fort Wayne is roughly an hour north and provides the nearest major grocery, propane, and RV service. Most sites in the area are within a short drive of US-27 or I-69, which makes staging a rental easy for travelers coming from Indianapolis, Columbus, or Detroit.
Things to do around Geneva
Ouabache State Park is the anchor outdoor destination, with a fire tower, a bison exhibit, a swimming area, paved bike trails, and fishing on Kunkel Lake. The park's flat, paved trail into Bluffton is well suited to families and casual riders.
Geneva itself is home to the Limberlost State Historic Site, the fourteen-room cabin of author Gene Stratton-Porter, operated by the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. The nearby Loblolly Marsh nature preserve, a few miles south in Jay County, offers birding and self-guided walks. The surrounding countryside includes Amish farms, bakeries, and furniture shops around Berne and Adams County.
Anglers and paddlers can access the Wabash River and several small county lakes. For a bigger day out, Fort Wayne adds a zoo, riverfront trails, and minor-league baseball within an easy drive from any of the nearby campgrounds.

The camping season in this part of Indiana runs primarily from mid-April through late October. Ouabache State Park is open year-round, but full amenities such as the camp store, nature programs, and swimming area are seasonal. Private parks in the area generally open in spring and close by the end of October or early November, though a few keep limited sites available with electric only into the shoulder months.
Summer is peak season. Weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out well in advance at Ouabache and at the KOA, and holiday sites often go the moment the reservation window opens. Weekdays in June and August are noticeably easier.
Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color that typically peaks in mid to late October. Spring can be wet, with muddy ground and higher river levels along the Wabash, so travelers with larger rigs should check site conditions before arrival.
How to book near Geneva
Ouabache State Park reservations go through the Indiana State Parks system on camp.IN.gov, powered by ReserveAmerica. The booking window opens six months in advance to the day at noon Eastern, and popular summer weekends are typically claimed within the first hour. A per-vehicle Indiana State Parks gate fee applies on top of the camping charge.
Bluffton / Fort Wayne South KOA Journey uses the national KOA reservation platform and app, which shows live site availability and allows rig-length filtering. Fox Lake Campground, Timberwoods RV Park, and Wildwood Outdoor Escape are independently operated, so booking is handled directly by phone or through each park's own website.
For holiday weekends, reserve two to three months out. For midweek stays outside peak summer, walk-up availability is common.
What to expect on site
Sites in the Geneva area are generally level and grassy, with gravel or paved pads at the newer private parks. Ouabache State Park offers 20, 30, and 50 amp electric hookups but no water or sewer at the site; a dump station and central water fill are provided. Larger fifth wheels fit in many loops, but tree cover and older layouts mean drivers should confirm site length when booking.
Private parks such as the KOA and Timberwoods RV Park typically offer full hookups, Wi-Fi, and pull-through sites. Cell coverage is reliable across most of Adams and Wells counties on the major carriers.
Bring bug spray. Mosquitoes and gnats are active from late May through August, especially near the Wabash River bottoms and marsh preserves. Quiet hours are enforced at state park loops, and generator use follows posted windows.
